Was it just down to the sheer number of people trying to get there or an accident?

Sorry Jay, I had an horrendous journey but got there at 10.00 only to sit there until 14.00. However it was well worth the wait. Managed to park near an entrance and got straight out missing the queue. Good journey home.

Worthers +8 According to the local travel news, it was purely down to the sheer volume of traffic trying to get into the event. Not helped by being a pretty busy road anyway. There were some pretty pissed off truck drivers especially with the antics of people blocking the roundabouts.

Got there at 0945, and it had stopped raining.
Parked reasonably near the entrance, grabbed a coffee then took a seat in one of the grandstands.
A great spectacle especially as the aircraft flew over us as they departed for their respective sorties.
Would have been nice to have had a commentary.

I think they were overwhelmed a bit by the numbers. It was supposed to be restricted to 20,000 but clearly many more than had registered turned up. The estimate on this evening's Channel 4 programme was 32,000 spectators.
I left home at 10 am expecting to be a couple of hours (I only live 15 miles away) but didn't get home again until 5:30 pm.
A fantastic day.
