Had the seats out and taped up wherever necessary, I'm thinking a lot of crap is coming in at the tail end where the leather retainer is, I'd thought about shaping some sponge rubber and placing in at the tail of the luggage compartment and washing out periodically, wondering what others have done.
Also it is apparent that a lot of dust is coming in where the seatbelts fit through the top of the seats, any suggestions on this would also be welcome.

I bought a 2 meter length of the foam insulator used to cover water pipes and cut it in half lengthwise then wrapped it around the plastic rear shelf to create a better seal. Tuck it down between the body and shelf. I then wadded up some bubble wrap to create a block in front of the leather hinge and covered it generously in duct tape. The supplied tool bag sits in front of it to ensure a good seal. All of this really worked in keeping the contents clean and dry. The seat belt channel is a big problem in that the belts are in the same compartment as the rear tire and get exposed to dirt, mud and just plain water. Still trying to figure that one out.

Taping the seams behind the seat cushions will help a great deal but the access to the bevel box will be constantly removed so it will have to constantly redone.

Did all this but...

A great deal of dust will then come from the front end. The transmission tunnel is the biggest culprit. The dynamics of the cockpit create a partial vacuum there so that very little comes from the top but it does get sucked in by any available openings elsewhere.

Avoid dusty roads.

Fit a trailer mudguard under the rear deck with a mud flap on, that will sort it.
I now get nothing at all through that hole.

Blimey I've only just bought my first set of spanners, I think fitting a mudguard and flap would be a step too far for my newly found hobby of rectifying the problems of my NEW MTW

Thanks for your help, I've only taped behind the seats, do you think I would achieve anything by taping up the seams on the front end?

You could try but it will be ugly. Take off the cowling on a bright day and stick your head down the foot wells. The amount of light coming through will amaze you!

I have noticed that taping the rear section has greatly minimized the amount of road grime. The rear wheel does have contact with the ground and kicks up quite a lot. What's left coming in the cockpit from the front end is very fine and not so much. These are the particles suspended in the air directly in front of you. Easy enough to vacuum out and wipe down.

Another rare treat is to drive it in the rain. Your legs will get wet. Never doubt.

Of note: If you notice black dust coming from the rear and settling underneath the seat cushions that will be aluminum coming from the rear sprocket. It is being consumed by the belt. Much has been made of this on this forum and I have contributed my fair share. Be warned.

Took it out today for 50 mile run, it has definitely improved the dust intake. Don't think i'll bother with the front end.
I got my car brand new in May, I was hoping it would have had the steel sprocket, I asked my dealer to check and it was the aluminium one, I complained about the metallic type dust and the factory have agreed to fit one on warranty which I thought was fair enough.

I'm at Old Trafford on the Sat. i'll see if I can persuade the wife to have a ride out, I'm thinking I could photograph the mudguard and fittings from various angles and then try and pursuade a friend who is quite adept with that sort of thing. If one of us doesn't make it to the Cars in the Park. i'll have to organise something else.
