Er , bonkers Spitfire flying ?

I've seen the clip before but yes, it is bonkers. Your forward visibility is not good for that sort of flying and you are below the height the altimeter works properly at.

Somehow the clouds make it look more special.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment Jays.

Jay - what a nightmare. How frustrating.....

Goodwood is just down the road from me, but unfortunately I had to be in London.

spent 4 days at the Revival in my campervan and they let me stay over an extra night to watch proceeding...very moving.

Thought the Tv coverage had the wrong presenter...no depth or gravitas with Dermot...needed somebody like Dan Snow to impart the emotion and importance of the event.

I have to agree about the presenter, but I guess Dermot's presence may have drawn in an audience the programme wouldn't have otherwise have had. I was happy to ignore him and watch the pictures.

I watched as much of the local and national coverage as I could and it seemed ITV managed some of the best coverage, with some stunning air to air pictures over the south of England.

The worst was the BBC News channel which was supposed to be covering the whole event live but decided after 5 minutes that the TUC conference was more interesting.

400+ miles round trip.
Worth every ounce of the effort.
To see so many planes with the sounds, nose to tail take offs, circuits in formation was a chance in a lifetime.
The guys who flew them in anger deserve everyones gratitude and admiration.
I will watch for the program to be repeated to see it.
I have seen Spitfires and Hurricanes in shows but never that many.
To see them taxiing and taking off as groups albeit nose to tail not abreast as in wartime scrambles gave an inkling of what it was like....
Yesterday they would all come back....
Not something you could say at the time of the combat.
Real heroes....

According to the Channel 4 website it is repeated tonight at 8:00pm on 4seven.

You can also watch it for the next 4 weeks on-demand http://www.channel4.com/programmes/battle-of-britain/on-demand/62038-002

Nightmare traffic to get in, Nightmare to get out, but the bit in between was iconic bliss. To see so many of these aircraft that were flown by heroes of my childhood taking off and flying off into the blue. As a late bonus when SOSPAN and I where getting up to speed after the traffic jams there was a roar overhead as a mix of six spitfires and hurricanes flew along side of us. Does not get better than this. Great day.
