I will certainly do my best. Our year gets filled up fairly quickly with visits to my family in Australia and hers in both France and England but a nostalgic trip to Budleigh, then the regatta then the Revival.... very tempting.

Sounds like a plan could be taking place - it would be great if you can make it auster .

Switzerland has banned the registration of all new VW cars with the suspect engines until VW can prove that the cars comply with EU Homologation data.
Glad I'm not a VW Dealer in Switzerland....

This will hasten the demise of the diesel car, but the world depends on diesel transport.

This will hasten the demise of the diesel car, but the world depends on diesel transport. Yes, but big diesels can be made quite clean. It is the small versions for car use that run at relatively high revs and very high cylinder pressures that produce the high levels of NOx. AddBlu systems work well to eliminate the NOx. VW chose not to use this, I understand, on all their diesel cars. Possibly because of cost and space issues. It would be interesting to know if the US versions had the system. Does anyone know?

As I understand it the vehicles in question did not have addblue but all new models do. Probably they were forced into it to comply with Euro 6. Actually I was looking at a small BMW the other day and I was told they did not use Addblue. I'll bet that is currently being looked at very closely.
