I had a Jaguar XKR with drug dealer split rims for a couple of years - I curbed that a couple of times and each time was able to buy a new stainless rim separately to the whole alloy wheel. Hopefully I can find out who the manufacturer is and see if this can be done....

The wheels on my S3 don't seem to me to be split rims so yours may be different (even though they look the same!)

On mine it's just an alloy wheel with a stainless rim. Perhaps these can be extracted and replaced... which may ne what you're getting at. Good luck. I don't know what they did with my wheel but it looked a right mess before and looks great now so perhaps the whole stainless rim was replaced.

I know it`s a bit late now - but I`ve seen protectors called Alloygaiters - would they help in future?

Hi - yes the wheels on the S3 do look the same.... perhaps I'm mistaken about them being split rims. Who repaired yours?

Here's the damage.... the stainless bit looks like it should come off and be replaceable...

I had a good look at them in the factory this morning....the stainless rim is just a trim which appears glued to the alloy rim. No indication on the boxes as to who makes them.

The Aloygators will not work on Aero wheels that have tyres that are 225 wide, only 245 wide unless you have staggered wheel sizes.

The Aero range has the same width wheels all round but a narrower tyre on the front. This means that the alloygators do not fit properly as the tyre is stretched out a bit on the wheel

Jay, that was kind of you to do that - thank you.

They must be available somewhere I would have thought.... I've dropped a note to Steve Morris at the factory, he may answer.

Very annoying to have dinged a wheel - I should think it was over ten years ago I last did that.

So that is why the Alloygators didn't fit!
I'd naievely assumed that the front wheels were narrower than the wheels, not just the tyres.

My immediate thought is what would be the effect of fitting slightly wider front tyres, so 235 rather than the 225 OEM? Avon has discontinued the 225 with tyre with the ZZ5, but the 235 is offered.

On the Aero the tyre would rub and the only option would be to cut away part of the front splitter. I'm guessing the Plus 8 would be the same
