4/4 power steering not a factory option.

Plus 4 a factory option at £2400 wowwww

Question is do you need it? Currently I'm veering to a 4/4 but I'm interested that hardly any ads for second hand Plus 4s have PS

David new member aka Audiothief never owned a Morgan but considering.

David. I didn't recall having the option of PS on my +4 when I bought it in 2011.
All of our other cars have it almost as standard.
I thought I would miss it but I don't. True the steering is a little heavier at parking speeds but not so we would say we will have it on the next +4 (assuming permission is given for that!!)

You definitely don't need it on a new 4/4, it's as light as can be.
I had it on a mk 1 roadster and it was terrific as it acted as a kind of damper too, and gradually disappeared as speed increased. But I don't know if it was the same type as they use now.

Most of us would not dream of specifying PS on a trad Morgan.

The 4/4 especially is very light and nimble and you will probably find that it is not necessary.

If you do feel that you want to make things even easier , then get someone like "Spanner Juggler" to fit a Peter Mulberry bearing with new front main springs and ensue that your front suspension is greased properly. That will make a difference, and I would be most surprised if want it any lighter than that.

You don't need power steering - full stop. Is my opinion.

The power assistance on a Discovery I had failed. After doing the checks from a dealer to make sure it was safe to drive, I then drove it without assistance to their premises. Sure it was heavy to get out of my drive, but rally car I'd driven was heavier. And really, the Discovery was better unassisted on motorways etc.

The two speed three wheeler I have is 270° lock to lock (ie 3/4 of turn). Earlier cars are half that as they have no reduction box in the steering.

Definitely not needed on a 4/4 or on a Plus 4 with the narrow wheels (sometimes called a narrow bodied Plus 4), and I would not fit it to a Plus 4.
All cars leaving the factory now seem to have springs that do not hold the hub under high pressure and the factory steering bearings are perfectly adequate.

As others have said greasing is important. A new car may be a little stiff for the first 500 or 1000 miles until the bushes in the hubs are "run in".

I have the new 3.7 roadster without power steering and its absolutely fine , i see no need for it.

My plus 4 was the first plus 4 to be fitted with the electric power steering, no I didn't spec it. The car is the one that CM showed to the press when they announced the option. I love it. It is one finger light at low speed and parking but reverts to non assisted at around 20 mph It also has the "electric blankets" fitted to the seats and aircon all very useful accessories at times

The electric blankets is that for any blonde that asks you in a pub for a ride and if she takes her coat off I SAID COAT you can wrap her up to keep warm .Come up to Newcastle the women are in tee shirts in the winter they will exhaust you just for fun and leave you panting , as they go looking for more.
