The passenger side inertia reel seatbelt on my 2002 4/4 is jammed in the fully 'out' position. I suspect that I may have to replace the unit. Do any forum members know where these can be sourced and whether it is a 'standard' item or a special one for Morgans?

You can gain access from the spare wheel well. Try jiggling the webbing, whilst applying gentle tapping with a Thor leather hammer. You may escalate to copper or soft faced wheel hammer with care. It should 'shock' into retracting. nerd

Manxmog,
I replaced the belts in my Plus 8 last year beacuse I wanted ones with adjustable straps rather than fixed stalks (because they happened to line up perfectly with my hip bone). I got them from a local Securon dealer. Try www.securon.co.uk.

Thank you both for your advice - much appreciated. Maybe the hammer first to see if it will be shocked into retracting !!!

Manxmog,
Had exactly this problem with my 2001 4/4.
Got BHM to get a new one in in case they couldn't fix the existing one. Booked it in, and in the end they fixed it with a "special tool" that Keith had made up - a common problem apparently. They fixed the other belt too in case that failed at some point. Cost me an hour or so.

I think you will find one in the special tool catalogue under listing for "Birmingham Screw-driver" read

Thanks for your comments. Have lined up a replacement belt in case the Birmingham screwdriver fails! Wonder why belt failure is a common problem? It doesn't seem that common in other cars.
