Also, in the interest of balance: My Plus 4 (GDI) is just one year old now but I've only done about 4,000 miles (including to the Loire and back). Very few problems (the usual CEL light for "low catalyst efficiency" comes on from time to time). I've been lucky with the dealer -- Perranwell Morgan are excellent.

You can get those from John Worrall at Heart of England.

Talk Morgan Regular Registered: 31/03/09 Posts: 848I've had three new Morgans over the years ( and two used). Each new one has given me some trouble in the first year. I think it is about expectation managemant, which the factory don't think about. My line of work is about hand built or rebuilt musical instruments. They are highly mechanical and so settle in over the first year or so. BUT, I tell my clients this beforehand and, of course, rectify and adjust free of charge until it's settled. Handbuilt mechanical items does not equate to initial perfection but to long term perfection. In my opinion, it's a mistake to push the craftsmen angle as if it meant Rolls Royce standard. The Morgan is a well built car, but if it had to be perfect it would have to be twice the price due to the time involved. Even then, it's still mechanical and so needs to settle. It's only because the factory pretend it leaves there perfect that the clients get upset. It is all about managing expectation. When I was in sales we used to tell the client something would take six weeks to get, knowing it was three weeks delivery. That way we could call the client and say that thanks to our persistence the goods had arrived early. Happy customer.Get through the first year and your Mog will be the most reliable car you've ever had. And the most loved. (Three wheeler exception get out clause)Nick

I have had problems with my Morgan and was lucky I also bought through Perranwell, who went through it before delivery and sorted a few issues. Further issues were sorted by the factory and dealer.
Drive it as much as you can in the first 2 years and get problems sorted out under guarantee.

Check they installed the rubber strips at the bottom of the doors! You do not notice until you get in a heavy rain. I complained wt dealer that my new Roadster leaked much more than my previous 4/4. My dealer then found the strips were missing, both doors... Guess they ran out of material that day.
Do not expect it to be perfect, and keep having the big smile on your face when putting all those miles on!
Kind regards,
BertR

That's a good way to put it, Nick.

Hopefully there won't be any. I had a new Roadster and then a new +8 - I'm not sure there were any defects/faults I could spot.

All cars occasionally have something not quite right when leaving the factory and forums tend to be skewed towards broadcasting problems - which is very useful when you need a huge collective wisdom to focus on an issue. But the fact is that most cars are absolutely fine.

Enjoy the car - I'm sure it will be something to treasure. smile
