you can see the greased up Harley Davidson direct drive damping compensator inside all that grease.

we did clean it all up to find that Morgan used this 1984 HD setup.

It's all in good shape.

We saw some rubbing - grinding from the compensator housing against the coil housing?
we'll have to look at that soon

the 1984 HD compensating sprocket diagram.
It's the bottom diagram

we are working on modifying this setup since it works better with my hot rod style of driving.

I'm hard on equipment!

but what gets me is, it's only 80HP, lightweight and just spinning a tiny 175 wide tire and I'm tearing up all the clutch parts and drive spindles? WTF it should take this kind of beating!

Thanks for all the info and photos JVS, interesting as there is very little information on this about. My view is that the Centa unit will take more punishment without destroying itself than the HD unit. It is certainly much better to drive normally with, although maybe a bit more transmission vibrations under some conditions. Later cars have a heavier clutch pedal, and I assume matching heavier clutch diaphragm, that may reduce the possibility of the clutch burning out as well. Looking forward to all the re-assembly stuff. Good luck!
