In the previous 13,000 miles, I have worn out 2 sets of Avons and a set of Blockleys. Being in need of set number 4, I turned to the Internet and found an Excelsior 400/19H tire marketed by Coker Tires here in the US. They have the same tread pattern as a Blockley, cost $157.00 per tire before shipping and tax and they balanced with about a third of the weight needed with the the previous tires. I believe the overall outer diameter is just a hair less then the other brands because.... miracle of miracles, I was able to install them back onto the the M3W "without" removing the fenders, a personal niggle of mine. YMMV

I can't add anything substantive to this thread, but would love to ask a question - are owners really only getting 4K miles (+/-) on a set of tires on their M3Ws? That seems really bizarrely low...but I know nothing about motorcycle tires, and less about M3Ws. Just didn't think those front tires would wear that quickly!

I replaced my original Avons at 7,300 miles. They probably had another couple of hundred miles left at most.

8500 miles on original Avons plenty of tread still probably another 4000 miles left on them. I am obviously not trying hard enough.

At 4K my Avons were looking and feeling distinctly worn, I can see my Blockleys lasting a bit longer , perhaps up to 10K.

I believe the Avons are sensitive to alignment and tire pressure. I run 28 psi and check often as there is some bleed down. I'm well over 4000 miles and my Avons are still like new. Toe should be ZERO and its easy enough to check even with a tape measure and some home made brackets.

Would love to know the driving characteristics of the people getting so few miles out of their tires. Are they granny driving around town, occasional spirited driving, or treating every time in the M3W as if its a closed circuit.

My first Avons lasted about 7.000 km, but the alignment / toe was wrong, I drove like this /^\, now with Blockleys and a toe = 0, no more problems, so check your alignment.

My Avons were totally gone at about 9000 km. Evenly worn.
Blockleys feel pretty good. Just about broken in.
Rear tyre still half there.
I tend to step on it...
M3W, now!!!
