That part failure is exactly what happen to me too.

I replace the bolt with a Grade 8 bolt and nut.
never going to break again!

Does anyone know the material of the riser shipped by Empire, and if it's hardened after machining?

If you go to the bolt through as has been discussed, the part could be something as simple as just plain Cold Roll Round as it's only a spacer at that point. I would think steel would still be better than aluminum, but again, nothing special in my mind.

After reading JV's post, I'm wondering if perhaps I wasn't deceived by the photos, but I thought the bolt was a specially machined part that included the tapered bolt and the standoff spacer as a one piece unit. Is this correct, or is the standoff simply a spacer, tapered on the outside, with a straight hole so that the bolt simply passes through it? That might make more sense, but still, with a shaft diameter of only 10mm, and at that length, it seems rather small for the job. The discoloration on the bottom of the standoff also raises some question as to whether it was really in full contact with the steering arm.

It is a one piece machined part in steel grade? The steering arm was rust protected after installation of the riser so this could explain the differerence in color.

The shear and bending loadings on that cantilevered bolt, with quite a long leverage, will still be very high. My view would be that a qualified chassis engineer should look at it and pronounce if he or she thinks it is safe. I am afraid I would not go with that arrangement.
