Whatever its age it looks wonderful!

I hadn't realised that this transnational "Bustle Back" existed and rather like it. It brings together the best of the 4 seater and 2 seater.

According to Worrall & Turners book the bustle back was discontinued from chassis number 4023, in October 1958 when the sloping rear and off set fuel filler cap arrived. There are no photos but there is a reference in the list of production changes on page 65.

So your car has to have been built be prior to October 58.

The first car with the TR3 engine was 3421 in 1954, so it should be a Triumph TR3 motor.

Hope this helps, the book Original Morgan is available on eBay and Amazon.

Looks a great example of an early and rare plus 4. Good luck with the paperwork.

Neither did I. It is more or less what I envisaged for my hypothetical Morgan 2+2 a while back.

This was Claudio Bardeggia's view of the idea.

Wow, Peter that is absolutely gorgeous!!! Are you planning an SP2????!!!! it would make a great project -- and not too much of a change so not stratospheric in cost!!

Cheers!

No I will stick with what I have but I think it is a great idea and I love Claudio's interpretation of it.

The thing is that it could be used for a couple of kids in the back if fitted with seats but for me, more importantly, it gives extra internal luggage space. Cost of development to Morgan would be almost zero. I'm sure it is an idea that has sales possibilities.

I love the bustle back and upright wheel.
What a super car and interesting to know the rarity of this particular model.
Good luck with the papers.

Peter, I couldn't agree more.

It would be an interesting option, Morgan 2 Plus 2 on the Trad and Aero chassis.

I have thought of this for many years, cant be that difficult for a good coach builder. Memory failing now, but I think a morgan man John Berry made at least one many years ago.

Mac,

Thank you for the info. This may explain the confusion. You are also correct, I believe the Fergus Plate is a repro as I found out that Fergus did not use the chassis number as their stock number. I did confirm the engine belongs in this car as the bonnet hinges are stamped with the 5 digits from the engine number. I have contacted Martyn Webb at Morgan for more info and I will also wait for the chassis record info I requested....for £75 (WOW).

I was also able to confirm that the engine work was done by Robert Couch and the paint was done by Jake Weaver. Jake was heavily involved with Ferrari's, hence the Ferrari Fly Yellow. The restoration was done to a very high level, and looking at the car it looks it.

Thank you everyone. I'm sure my dad will enjoy this car for many years to come....and so will I wink
