I can only emphasise the benefit of "agreed value" as "the worst" did happen to my Morgan! I danced around on a muddy road and hit an oak post at 40mph causing heart-rending damage (to the car). Whilst I am still sweating to hear whether they will repair (new chassis, both front wings, radiator, sump etc etc) or pay out in full, I am so thankful that, even if they do decide write it off, I will get what I paid for it 2 years ago. Any ordinary insurance policy would probably offer about 15-20% less.

My insurer usually sends out a form with the renewal documents for completion by the servicing garage every couple of years. I've now had my car 3 years and the agreed value has gone up £1,500 so well worth doing. In conjunction with the garage we looked at what similar model, age and mileage cars were available on Autotrader to help determine the value. No charge was made. But that is what the insurance company will do in the event of a total loss, so why bother ? Standard insurance and no bother with NCB. Surely agreed value is for older cars where the the value is difficult to assess.

Surely agreed value is for older cars where the the value is difficult to assess. I think there are a few relatively new cars that would benefit from an agreed value - the Ford GT (for example) is now worth around 3 times the list price. The GT3RS 4.0 is another one where the price has rocketed. Over the years I have insured cars on an agreed value with pretty much my valuation being accepted. Haven't made a claim yet (touch wood).

I use Adrian flux insurance.
My first two years on agreed have been at what I paid. All done on detailed photos.
I will up the value at next renewal by about 3k.
I can't find one anywhere this good at my original purchase price.
4 seaters seem harder to find.
