I sold my car at the weekend and thought I would suspend my insurance whilst I looked for a replacement car. 'Oh no sir, we can not suspend your insurance'. 'We can transfer it to another car or cancel it'

Not too bad you think?

'Sorry Sir, you have had your insurance more than 4 months, we cannot refund your remaining premium'

You have been warned!

Another very good reason to stick with the morgan specialist insurers like Gott and Wynne.

...Never had it on insurance - only with the RAC (Saab we brought came with the AA).

You would not be upset if your car had be written off on the first day of your premium!
For your years premium of say 400 you would have been paid out 30 k plus.
It is only like all the life policies being offered on TV you do not get your premiums back only when you die and then it might be less than you paid in.
That is insurance

When I sold the Roadster I cancelled the insurance because the insurer, Morgan Insurance in Alton, couldn't offer cover on the Plus 8 with the level I wanted. So they refunded, subject to a £30.00 admin fee.

Heritage are one of the MSCC recommended insurers.

Is it in their terms and conditions which you accepted with the policy?

Was it a main policy or a classic one?

A classic policy - where you already have another vehicle insured as a main car - is a lot cheaper in the first place. If it wasn't a classic policy then I'd query it as their website says they give cancellation refunds for their "everyday" policies.

I swapped to Heritage a couple of years ago, mainly because of their track day cover at no extra cost. They also do agreed value "in-house". My premium this year was £56.04 so I'll put up with the no refund policy (by comparison, the cheapest quote as a main car was £147 with Flux).

Yes it was a classic policy. Terms and conditions in the small print.... Apparently

It would have been cheaper to pay monthly rather than for the full year. Not that Herritage will care; I will not be using them again.
