As all above have said. I may even contact "spanner juggler" myself and drive to Leicester as my daughter lives not to far away. Good luck

Hi all, who sells these new chromed kingpins and spiral bushes ? Thanks Being pedantic they are not chromed they are hard chrome one is the kind of thing done to bumpers and metal trim for appearance and is actually not very hard wearing the other is a surface treatment to increase wear resistance and corrosion prevention. It's commonly used in hydraulic rams and machinery where high rub abrasion would render the part unserviceable as it extends service life considerably. Confusing as the names are similar. They are available from many dealers and I think most source their parts stock from Peter Mulberry at Mulberry Fabrications www.mulfab.co.uk. If your ever stuck I carry a small stock at home as well of pins and bushes. Finally not so much new nowadays, I fitted my first set in 2002 and they were around before then ;-).

And I strongly recommend Mulfab steering bearings. Much better than the standard items. Has planned a king pin job this winter and also replacing the original MMC steering bearing in favour of the Mulfab one. Do I also need new springs or can I reuse the old ones? The 4/4 from 2006 just passed 27 k miles. //Challe

Have a word with Mulfab. If your Morgan has steering damper blades without bearings you'll need shorter main springs.
If it has MMC bearings you can retain the original springs with a slight increase in ride height, or you can fit Mulfab replacement slightly shorter springs. You will also have a choice of spring rate if you do this.

Definitely go for hard chrome kingpins and the latest bronze bushes with the spiral grooves.
If you don't mind a drive to Leicester, SpannerJuggler offers an excellent service. Completely agree with Tim here, if you have not already got brake torsion bars then consider these as well when doing King pins, they will improve front end stability under braking. To get long life then grease up King pins around every 600 miles, I've used to Lucas RednTacky grease, it seems to last longer than others and is very water resistant and great for sliding surfaces.

I'll throw my bit in as well.
I've just had it done. Replaced the king pins with hard chrome and bronze bushes, uprated mulfab springs and steering bearing. While we were at it we put adjustable AVO's all round and brake reaction bars on the front.
OMG.
It has transformed the car. I've had quite a few morgans, never done this on any of them, I did have one that had koni's on it which handled ok but nothing like this.
I know we've had lots of posts about suplex, I drove PJB's car with the 5 link as well and said it was amazing……. but I don't think it was so much better to warrant the additional cost. (that's opened up a can of worms!!!!!)
The front of the car feels as if it's now attached to the rest of the car, it goes round corners….and no bottoming out. Comfort is now 100 times better. It's never going to be a Rolls Royce phantom or a lotus Elise, but for a trad Morgan with leaf springs, ladder chassis and 100 year old front suspension it's pretty good.

Spanner juggler did the kingpins and roller bearings on my old plus 8 and it transformed the car. He's now also done the plus 4 I have and can thoroughly recommend his work, I also enjoyed the job of being spanner juggler apprentice too, fetching the required tools when requested, great fun.
