No I'd put money on a) the dealer not knowing how to do it and b) even if they did they would just replace it as its far far cheaper to do that.

Well fingers crossed anyway that its sorted. Although if you are out seriously of pocket over the whole saga through no fault of your own then they really ought to make some goodwill gesture.

That's good to know Tim. Not sure we possess a proper bar of soap these days though! usually some Mango or Strawberry flavoured squirty stuff hanging in our shower.. you come out smelling like a fruit bat!

I can think of worse things to smell like Steve.
Haven't found a shower rail that I could hang upside down from yet though...

My car was delivered back to me 24 Nov - and as I said earlier in pouring rain. Car put in garage and left for a few days before I checked underneath to be sure that there was no oil leaking from the gearbox.

Good news: there is no oil leaking.

Bad news: there was a small pool of something just below the radiator.

I thought at first that maybe it was just the 'let down' of some rain water that had been trapped somewhere in the car. Inspecting underneath I saw that the area around the lower hose/lower pipe on the radiator was a little wet, so I dried it all off and then moved the car to a new position in the garage. I checked the next day and a new small patch directly under the same area. I am not sure why this leak was not spotted whilst the car was with the dealer - as having replaced the washer on the gearbox drain plug they monitored underneath the car to ensure that the oil leak had been resolved so I would have thought that they would have seen the coolant drip when looking under the car. Perhaps I expect too much.

Further inspection has identified that a very small amount of coolant appears to be seeping from the end of the lower hose (on the radiator side) - not a significant amount but enough to see the shiny wet stuff right on the lower edge of the hose. It appears at the lowest point (gravity would ensure that happened I suppose) but it is not clear exactly where the source leak is, just where it appears. I have checked the jubilee clips and they are as tight as they can be and the hose doesn't seem to have any bulges etc.

So, one thing after another, to which I know someone will reply "Welcome to Morgan ownership' (the equivalent of a dealer saying: 'They all do that, Sir!').

I understand that the stresses and strains of driving this type of car has the potential to cause some damage over the longer term, though from what I have read on here most of the bottom radiator pipe and hose issues seem to stem from cars fitted with plastic radiators, rather than the metal one I have - unless of course the collective wisdom of this forum can advise me otherwise.

Before I head off with my screwdriver to take off the bottom hose is there anything I should consider or know? Also, would fitting a silicone hose as a replacement be of any value? Assuming I can get one of course.

My early 07 +4 had a metal radiator when I bought it in May this year. I found that the solder between the lower tube plate and the bottom tank was pourous and therefore leaking. I changed the rad for an alloy one from Mulfab ( there are other suppliers) nice piece of kit but not cheap. No more leaks now.
Not what you wanted to hear I know but it seems this is quite a common problem.

Thank you for that.... I will double check the area just in case I have a similar problem....though clearly I hope not!

Have you checked the hose clamps are tight?

If it is the plastic radiator, take care tightening the hose clamps....things can distort!

and split if not already !!!!
