Steve , you & Steve (SBM) did a great job last Saturday. As others have said the appeal was in the looseness of it and it wasn't a train smash if people couldn't turn up. In my opinion the reason why doesn't do runs such as this is because it is strangled in politics, legal obligations, MSA permits and the such like taking the relative spontaneity that we were all able to enjoy last Saturday.

Maybe in each corner of the country we can take it in turns to organise a run to a particular venue. I'm sure a couple of us in the NW could offer to organise a future one.

Some years ago I joined an Aero outing with TM to Wales - What an adventure

I met some great friends who we see regularly and since then have ben back to Wales with our club and again was a great success - The admin to get a permit is minimal in fact we even good a letter of good wishes from the police chief!

In fact our issue was our trip was fully booked almost immediately. I know a great hotel and can recommend some great roads if you choose Wales - Would definitely come along if time allows

A few years ago the crew from Mogtalk had an April trip to Bourton on the Water. The older Morgans parked in front of the Motor Museum, and the rest, by arrangement parked in the British Legion car park (which has a nasty speed bump on the way out).

We had lunch at the Old Manse by arrangement. That was a loose coupled event and was a really good day out..............

Getting back on track for a moment, last Saturday proved there's a very strong desire. We all appreciated the informality, and I'm sure if we'd have ended up with just Steve T & I, we'd have still had a good afternoon..!! Informal for me, please.

Using the TM forum for meets is great, but I'd ask the question whether or not the meet should have a public viewing like most threads, or private to registered members like the For Sale part. Other than that, we need a calendar sticky at the top of the thread.

No liabilities involved unless any event is solely for TM members.

I agree with spreading the locations. I'd relish the idea of travelling to something, and the weekend away bit means Mrs SBM sees some action. Not that sort - there's a car to polish first, ha ha - but you understand my drift I'm sure.

Six events as a minimum, summer nights can be ad-hoc.

My vote would be to have a loose arrangement that doesn't require too much booking ahead for events. The Gaydon event worked because everybody knew before they turned up they needed to sort out there lunch arrangements and entrance tickets themselves. (Who was it that forgot their wallet?). If there was a no show it was no problem. More of this would be great. e.g. Duxford, Shuttleworth collection to suggest a couple of ideas.

Loose arrangements would be my preference as well. I'm a member of a motorbike forum, UKGSER, it has a section for specific organised events as well as an "open invite" section, that can be broken down into regions,South West for example. Someone posts up they're driving out to The New Forest stating a meeting place and time, then see who turns up. Sometimes the least planning days out can end up being the most memorable, for whatever reason!

Mainly so it doesn't put too much pressure on the organisers as it starts to get onerous

Although I wasn't there, the Gaydon visit seems to have been just about right, well organised but easy going

I think that this sort of event is exactly "what the Doctor Ordered". I'm only sorry that I missed it.

As to the MSA Exemption it only applies to Clubs at are affiliated to the MSA. MSCC is, so has to follow their rules.

TM isn't and shouldn't.

We are a group of chums who agree that we should all meet up at a specific place to "Talk Morgan". We are not following a set route and there is no competitive component. So no one has to be informed, no one has to get officious and there are no insurance issues.

P.S. I'm not convinced that the majority of members gain much from the MSCC affiliation, but that is another matter.
