I followed this advice from Grove Batteries in Cheltenham, and it has worked well: We stock the Odyssey PC925 @ £153.44 inc VAT with a 2 year warranty. The Red Top is the same battery but re-labeled, the Red Flash is a cheaper alternative using more conventional AGM technology. The PC925 is a pure-lead battery-Top grade lead with few additives capable of lasting many years if correctly maintained. Have a look at the output of your charger. If under 3 AMPS then it may be delivering too low an output to run built alarms/immobilizers/ trackers etc. In effect the battery runs down, especially if the vehicle has low mileage.
I would suggest at least a 5 amp CTEK charger / maintainer (about £60.00)

Looked into this 3-4 years ago and fitted the Odyssey PC925 in mine. As suggested above keep it on a decent battery conditioner/charger.
Cheers

I am using the Odyssey PC 925 and also use a CTEC battery conditioner. I have this set continously on the winter setting, right through summer and winter. The reason for this was a piece I read about the PC 925 battery requiring a bigger continuous charge. I purchased my last battery from Demon Tweaks on the internet {about the same price as you have quoted} and it has performed well over 2 winters so far. In dry warmer weather my S1 starts immediately on the button, in colder damp weather the odd click before a start but always barks into life.

I have made notes of all of the battery and starter incidents for a few years now. Not only my own but from others sharing on this site, and there have been some lengthy and plausable explanations further; I have spoken at length to Keith at BHM, the Richard Thorne team, Techniques and Brian Miller all of which have a considerable weight of experience. Tried new batteries, battery testing kit, new starter motor, issolated the power, brought in witch doctors, however I am no nearer an explanation than when I "started". On the upside, it has always lit when required {4 years].

Lightsphere.I put my car away muddy and wet over the weekend so after Bill left this morning and the battery switch i went for a quick blast. The series 1 might have a crappy starter and the roof doesent fit properly but the smile it gives you makes up for it.Oh and we also have the best dash.

Aerotaff I could add; best bum, best wheels & best glovebox, but I won't for fear of starting another debate! In fairness I should have added in my earlier post that although the original battery lasted 8 years, for the last two years of it's life I had the dreaded clicking before getting the started to turn With the new battery this was cured but only for about 3 years. The clicking started again and when I finally ran out of patience a year ago I replaced the started motor. This job was greatly aided by excellent advise from Brian at Millers and his son Andrew. No more clicking, touch door frame, since. Cheers

Aerotaff, Yes, the S1 would be hard to part with, such great curves. I have lusted after others since I found her, but so far nothing else has turned my head.

As Emyr said my battery started his car so back to the starter motor. I have had a new starter fitted by Brian Miller a few years ago, has he sold the business? Got the car booked in later in week to check and clean all the connection. Any more idea's would be appreciated. Bill
