is the noise normal when the fan is turned on?
very annoying indeed.
also there is what can only be decribed as an 'indicator noise' behind the dash when the car is start for the first few mintues.

Hi EL77,
There is a fix for the noise from the fan - it requires a reprogramming of the CAN BUS system for the fan motor.
Mine was done when the car was back at Malvern and it is now whisper quiet.
Cheers
Simon
ps - I cannot comment on the other noise; however, have PM'd you with an option.

Keith @ BHM tells me that the 'indicator' noise is part of the fuel injection air management system and is present at start up from cold. It stops after a short time and is 'normal' for the power unit.

Hi Simon,
I have exactly the same problems on my Aero S4.
Could you please PM me too?
To be honest had accepted the fan noise as normal until I read this thread.
The indicator noise to my ears sounds more like a camera shutter. Orthodoc's diagnosis sounds right.
Thanks!

My aeromax had the same issue
I was told by one of the continetal main agent that it couldn t be fixed
I was in Italy this week and Luigi Borghi, the Italian dealer fixed it.
No more annoying noise, even if it is not 100% quiet
However, the two rear opening glasses went bang one after another. Apparently, the glue originally used can t cope with any temperature above the British summer and need to be replaced by something stronger...

On both the Aero's I've had the fan noise is loud when the fan is only turned on a little. As soon as you move the dial around a bit more that noise stops.

On the Aeromax, the noise doesn't stop when the intensity of the fan speed is increased, you simply can't hear the noise over the fan at full blast. As above, the sound derives from a piece of code in the CAN bus system onboard the Aeromax, which causes the fan to resonate. At one point MMC thought the CAN could not be reprogrammed in an attempt to better/remove the code that caused the noise; however, they have recently (as in the last 4-weeks) found a solution. I am not sure if the software has to be updated, or whether the fan unit is replaced by one with code already installed - I will ask and report back. All I can tell you is that the noise is no longer present in my Aeromax because MMC fixed it. Reference the other issue - I have never heard the sound mentioned but said to EL77, he was welcome to have a listen to my car (as a comparison).
