David , I very much agree with you. Although I am perfectly capable of fettling most things on my +8 (albeit not up to Dave W standard) this is one job that I would not tackle.
Yes I can strip out all of the seats , transmission tunnels , and start to remove the rear springs which is of course much easier with 2 people , one above and one below, and I could re-install them myself. The remainder (which is where most of the time will be spent I think) will be the precise location of the brackets on the axle , and the build up and fitting of all the the other 5 links and Panhard rod. The axle is a heavy old lump of metal and I would not want to have that flailing around in the back of the car. Setting up the corner weights is something that I would have no idea about.
OK there are going to be those among us who do have a really well equipped workshop, plenty of space around the car, and the skills and experience to know how to do this, in which case I am sure they will make a great job of it. For me this is going to be a pretty simple choice.

I agree, it would involve quite a bit of arc welding. How many of us are competent at that?

Martin You are correct , the Suplex kit is designed as a bolt on, and with only one set of additional holes needing drilling (for the Panhard Rod) , so it can always be removed and transferred to another car, or removed before sale if you wish. I expect that the bolts holding the clamps onto the axle are going to be a regular maintenance item though , and possibly not to easy to access from on top of the car?

It would have to be a SUPLEX kit for the D.I.Y. types then.

Have not posted for some time. Glad Peter Ballard has surfaced. Will try to leave Him alone (grin). I have banged Suplex front suspension all over Western US. Latest is a 2,000 mile run from Seattle to Yosemite Park in California with 4 crossings of the Sierra Nevada's chasing a Roadster 3.0. Is the Suplex Kit an improvement? Well I have not removed it but really can't answer this questions. Too many variables (some self inflicted) to figure all this out. I have read all the "Talk Morgan" information up to this point on rear Suplex suspension. I have also driven Bill Fink's +8+ with coil over suspension for a 4 day period. Not sure what I learned with this trial other than it was a lot of fun. I have contacted Uncle Mel to find out about availability and cost. Hard for Me to resist trying it out.
