Stewart I hate to 'dampen' your hopes, pardon the pun but you may well find as the house starts to dry out issues become apparent. The floor may still start to lift over the next few days, the skirting boards, doors and architraves will be affected and the plaster will have taken up the water and be affected. From our experience, the plaster would have to be removed above the water line and driers installed in the property until they can issue a certificate to confirm the property has the moisture removed before reinstating it. You will need to be firm with your loss adjuster and unfortunately at times like this most people find they have to go into battle with the insurance company whose objective is to minimise the payout.

Thanks Roger, you are right

I'm getting in some dehumidifyers in from work and will see what happens over the next few days

What a small world. It turns out that MissW works with somebody who's family live at Croston and are also flooded. The Swifts.
York is in a bad way by the look of it. Stay away is the advice.

Stewart terrible news but at least no one was hurt and what Roger says about the loss adjusters is quite correct they are working for the insurance company not you! Take Care!

Just read the topic.
Bloody hell Stewart that's a nasty situation.
Thankfully everyone is ok.
At least you have saved valuable stuff in time.
Drying out will unfortunately take some time. I hope insurance are on the ball re getting things under way when water recedes.
The Morgan will survive..they are used to water inside and out!
Pass on my good wishes to the family.
I hope you can get your hands on driers/dehumidifiers to speed up the drying out.
Phil
