Happy New Year to all TM Enthusiasts,

first project this year is the idea to change the direction indicator and wiper switch. The Morgan Dealers here in Germany ask for 380€. This is a lot of money and for that reason I would like to ask if somebody of you knows from which car modell ( I assume it is a Ford)the original Morgan switch is used. I would prefer to make the first tests on a spare part and not on the original one but first I need to know the part number or the car modell in which it was primary used.

Happy New Year to you and your wife too! I'll give you some lines from a discussion I had with Lutz Leberfinger from MorganPark Hamburg about the conversion of my 1990 Lucas stalks to bespoke ones:

What you can do , when replacing the stalks , is to turn the whole unit by 180 ° , so that you have the indicator left ( as common in Europe) and wiper on the right side.

There is an aluminium notch on the steering column, the thing , which turns the indicator back to “straight forward” position. This notch needs t be turned 180° on the column too. No problem ......"

So, now I am waiting for the unit with the bespoke stalks which will be mounted 180 degree, I hope a little more convenient, but a little "less Morgan". I will keep you informed. Ofcourse your Morgan is a very recent one and I don't know if you could make the same move. But, Lutz should know (not cheap.....)

thanks for the information I know that but as you said Leberfinger is very expensive and I have some ideas to make the modfication by myself but first I need to know in which car it was primary used.

If your car is the same as mine I am not 100% sure but they are probably Land Rover Freelander parts. (1998-2004)

The direction indicator of my 2014 4/4 is definitely on loan from a Landrover Freelander. I know because this combi switch turns the headlight on as well...and my one failed to work during our holiday trip last summer. I also thought it could be a Ford part, but as I was in the south of Germany my dealer directed me to a Landrover dealer. They had a used spare part which had to go out off a Freelander. I'm not sure how old the FL was but not the newest generation I think.

It was a warranty case to me, my Mog dealer took over the costs...the used Landrover switch was more expensive than the same part new from Morgan...

There are skip loads on fleabay - just make sure you get the correct part number details - quite inexpensive about a 1/10 of the cost of your dealer.

I want to get a replacement that has high beam - push away, low beam - pull back, and pull with spring back to flash.

I can't get used to the double pull to flash on and off - if that makes sense.

I can fabricate a bracket but it has to be wiring compatible.

Well, you test the limits of my English understanding, Peter.

I guess you are talking about the way my Merc does it. You have a "middle" position which means low beam, in other words, normal drive light. You can push it to the front of the dash, away of yourself, to get a constant high beam. You can pull it back to normal low beam. And you can pull further to the direction of yourself to get a flash with a spring which does not need the double action of pulling twice. After the need of flashing it returns back to the low beam position without any additional action. If this is what you describe I'm with you.
