I have a strange problem with the wipers on my 2007 +4.
I cannot switch them off when once started.
If I press the control stalk down once( for one sweep normally)
I get about 10 to 15 sweeps before the wipers stop.
I thought the wiper relay might have a sticking armature so I replaced the relay but the problem is still there.
Is there a cut throat contact in the wiper motor which is faulty?

I would also have gone for the relay as the culprit. Are you sure (at the risk of being patronising!!) that you got the right relay??
On my Roadster it's 'the big one' on the right of a bank of five.
My second thought would be to check the base of the control stalk to see if the contact there is sticking, then slowly pulling off.
I suppose it might be a short in the 'park contact' in the motor, but then you wouldn't expect it to stop.

Yes I have the right one, the large one in the bank of 5.
The strange thing is that the intermittent and slow and fast speed positions have the same problem occasionally.
When the wipers wont stop by turning off at the switch if I pull the relay out of it's base and then re-insert it the wipers stop!
It certainly points to a relay problem but I'm now on the 3rd relay and still have the fault.
The replacement relays are the correct type like the one fitted when the car was delivered from Morgan.

There isn't a short on the back of the relay board Eddie?

For future interest where is the relay board ?

The relay is located behind the dashboard, about the middle and is in a bank of 5, the wiper relay being the tall one on the right hand end.
If your careful you can extract the relay by reaching under the dash and pulling the relay out of it's socket.
Your hand will be a bloody mess after getting the relay having cut yourself on all the tags and screws!
Graham, it certainly points to the relay holding on but no shorts are apparent.
It's very difficult to take it any further without dismantling the dash, which I'm loath to do.
I may have to live with the fault and pull over like I did on the M4 onto the hardshoulder and extract the relay.

Eureka! I've found the fault.
There was a resistive contact on the multiplug assembly that connects the wiper motor, probably a fine sliver of metal.
This was holding the relay in probably due to capacitance of the contact.
It took some finding!
