I thought I'd ask this eclectic bunch if any of you had either seriously considered building/buying a wood fired bread/pizza oven for the garden, or had actually done so?

I've been thinking about building one for some time and it is likely to e a summer holiday project.
This is good link to building an oven

Why? Simply that bread and pizzas baked in such an oven are SO much better....and very good to eat

Comments, advice and suggestions would be very welcome!

As long as you have a baking tray anything is cookable on a bbq you just need bricks and a metal grid with some charcoal underneath.

I have a brick BBQ built on the back of our extension.
We had a pizza oven at a holiday let in Italy. They work great & are different to a BBQ as the hot bricks heat the food.
I would say go for it.

I have a Weber BBQ and brought two pizza stones for it, a trivet to place the stones on above the metal grill part (to let the heat more evenly circulate) and the results have been superb. OK my wife's cooking has more to do with this than anything. I'd look in to this and double up.

Definitely go for it. We have friends who have built them and pizzas come out superb and dishes like slow cooked lamb etc are to die for. eat When I've got nothing else to do I would like to build one myself - but I think it will be a long wait!

My cousin in Perth WA has one and it's fantastic. I'd say go for it - and hold TM Pizza Parties in summer!

This post is a brilliant example of why I love this forum so much. A question on wood fired pizza oven on a car forum----fantastic.
By the by, I have always cooked (in the summer)over a wood fired griddle. I am lucky to have a lot of trees so a constant supply of wood and, yes, it does taste better. Roll on the summer !!! arr

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Just be wary if anybody says they have a load of ash to burn in the oven. Check the garage... ooo
