I started this thread with flippant comment but it's descended into doom and gloom and a kicking of the MSCC.

Personally, I don't find it a terrible hardship to send a cheque for my membership!!!! (lets get real)
I agree that on line would be easier though.

I don't go to my local centre meetings, possibly the word noggin puts me off, but mainly I don't think I fit in, (do I fit in anywhere!!). I last went about 5 years ago, I may well bite the bullet and go again this summer. I am strangely interested in what goes on though, not sure why though.

Miscellany is out dated……… But is that part of it's charm?? I wouldn't want it on line, I don't want to take the lap top to the kharzi!!!

All in all it's tale of old fashioned practices, out dated style, not being in keeping with modern needs and a reluctance or inability to change or modernise.

Does any of that sound familiar?? It should, it mirrors the style and ethos of the cars themselves!!!!

I don't own a cheque book, that's pretty real I reckon..

My concern is: we are told we need all the directors to manage the club as a business and yet they have let the numbers get out of control with no apparent action plan.

I think it would be wrong to assume that those attending noggins also play on the forums. When I went last to one and asked same it seemed almost no one did. Maybe I generalise but my local centre has nowhere near the appeal of talk Morgan and so far the runs we have arranged via TM are way better. Maybe we are just different animals? Resistance to change is the real problem.

Think about the overseas members. I don't particularly want to go to a noggins, which sounds to me like a bunch of drinking egg nog, I stopped going to bike club meetings years ago, but even if I did I would have at least 2,000km to drive to find one.

I have TM, I have MOG magazine, I'm really not sure why I am a member of the MSCC.

In the digital world on which we now live and most of us are used to I would say that a significant contributory factor is the lack of what the current website will do. Not only does the content not change but speaking with my advertiser's hat on as well there is no means for people to see our advert on the MSCC website for which I would have been willing to pay more for (increasing revenue) as there is a auditable benefit to my business to see where leads come from to our website.

I'm sure the two Peter's have this as a priority to get the new website sorted but in all honesty I've been a member of MSCC for over 3 years and the new website has been talked about for all of that time.

There was a quote recently, probably on here.......

"Oh God, why don't you send somebody to help them?"

God replies " I did, I sent you".

I know all the MSCC Committee. They all do the best they can, but committee steered organisations don't change quickly. It's easy to criticise but much harder to participate and get involved.

Attend a National Committee meeting. The next one is the day after our visit to the factory.
Attend the AGM - it's at the factory in April. Make your voice heard. The MSCC needs to survive in some form.

Having said all that, I will be hanging my polished hat up in just over a year.

Who says you have to print off and post anything? I saved the PDF form, filled in the info including credit card details using the facilities in my Mac PDF viewer and emailed it. Got a reply back in a few hours and it was done. An information pack arrived in the mail a few days later as does the magazine regularly.

It's a shame they have to post it to New Zealand at substantial cost however I do pay bit more to belong. I'm disappointed that only 8 or so Kiwi's belong yet there are probably 200 or so Morgans in NZ.

If we could find the answer to the inevitable follow-up question "Why does it need to survive?" then we could probably identify an appropriate strategy for the club to follow.

In my [now part time] professional life I help companies use the web properly. So I might be able to help with that.

For example, the website is written in Freeway 5 Pro 5.3.2, which was released in 2009 - pre iPad & all the design influences it's brought.

The site is updated a few times a year, but most change happened in 2006

Just updating the site to the current software would make a huge difference to the visitor's experience, would likely make it easier to improve the site further, with less effort - and without changing design or content.

That's a fairly gentle & easily achieved holding position.

Then MSCC could take a considered view of the "What's MSCC for?" question.
