I think the appropriate length of a drive is rather dependent on the types of road that make up the route.

For a day's tour around twisty B roads, 300 miles is asking a bit much, I think. Fine for a Motorway blast for a few hours to get somewhere, but personally I like playing about in the countryside. 3 hours in the morning, lunch, 3 hours in the afternoon averaging say 40mph gives not much more than a couple of hundred miles.

The brief form the Committee was to deliver what was delivered.
I have a couple of other runs, one is a nice 120 or so miles. But it seems that would be just too much.

Tim , that's because attracting new members isn't high on the priority list of the local centres... I stopped attending and nobody followed it up..I bet lunches are up there though!

Peter, I feel for you.. Pushing water uphill is easy by comparison... Wish you success but it's a tall order trying to bring about change with MSCC.. First 'they' have to be dissatisfied with the current state , are they?

So Peter, it's all down to you. I trust that you've broad shoulders - everyone is relying and well behind you!

Dealing with change to drag a dinosaur into the modern world will not be easy.
Creating a new image to attract old members back and new ones in will require some serious changes.
Luckily here in Taffmog we have people who like a range of participation type activities. Three noggins a month due to geography and open to all including visitors or simply curious people,regular runs ranging from local to far flung weekend jobs, informal pick up the phone for last minute days out, Wicked Welsh Weekend ( with its do your own thing attitude). Every Taffmogger can find something to suit, just enough money in the kitty to facilitate deposits for events or other minor expense. No need for a large bank balance...we are peoples a car club after all!

I think the issue with asking members to 'step up' and help is that they probably feel they would be fighting a losing battle against very intransigent individuals who hold the balance of power.

Car clubs are a funny thing, I've belonged to a few and they're quite often run by panjandrums who are rather fond of wielding what little power they have.

I admire PJ immensely for having a go at enhancing the club.

I couldn't agree more Neil and I'm sure that any MSCC members on here will support him in any way we can.

Well done Peter, many of us talk about MSCC and what needs to be done, but so far you seem to be the only TM'er that has been willing to put it on the line and actually do something.

Not quite true Brian, I am quietly working away in the background, and trying to support Peter. Things have been progressing on getting changes much along the previous discussions when I muted that change was needed in MSCC to make it open more open and bring all Morgan owners together. To modernise MSCC through a National Virtual Centre. I have been advised that the NCM will discuss it in the very near future and hopefully with a view to moving forward. It does feel like trying to walk through treacle at times though.
