Sounds the go.... Ok I managed to grab 30 mins on the rolling road yeaterday so time for an update on the original thread:
2014 Morgan 4/4 Sigma 1.6 engine..modifications home made cool air induction system into standard air box with KN filter + sports silencer.
Pre-remap Results
achieved 114 bhp 98lb/ft engine rev limiter 6450 rpm
The technician commented on how the power delivery +rise was progreesive right up to rev limiter
Post -remap Results
achieved 130.4 bhp 118lb/ft engine rev limiter 7250 rpm
The surprise to me having had other cars remapped is you can really feel the torque increase in the Morgan because it is a light car.
This now is a light agile proper sports car.
So a worthwhile cost effective gain without getting into the engine.
As I said before the change highlighted the shortcomings of the Conti tyres +further improvements will be made on the suspension.
Thanks to Cain (Power to the Wolf !!) for all advise and good work..he has other mods on trial for the Sigma ..watch this space
I will be picking up some brake reaction bars from Cain next Saturday and will be discussing Panhard rod fitment.
Ok signing off now for a blast up the Yorkshire coast to frighten the natives !!!!

Does anybody know, if is possible to remap the ECU with a laptop and OBD-socket over the internet? It may vary from ECU to ECU, but the way a remap works is that you have a file (a "chipfile" containing all the settings and a software application with the necessary capability to write the chipfile to the ECU. I've only ever seen it done with a laptop directly connected to the OBDII port with a serial cable. It would be easy enough to email the chipfile to a local tuner, but they would still need to have a copy of the right software installed on a local computer, I would think.

You need to be very careful dabbling with ECU's. It will be very easy to make things worse. Like tampering with twin SU's without experience.
You need a man with a plan and a rolling road to get the best outcome.

Andre, anything is possible if you have the skills and the ECU is not locked down. From various chats with Cain of Wolf Performance I doubt it is a practical approach on the Sigma in a Morgan. I probably would be simpler and easier to have a complete replacement ECU which comes with a standard mapping to start with for the Sigma and then to remap it for various types of driving such as normal, spirited and track, then be able to select these at will. A professional company that markets ECUs would be able to help, mitigating be worth chatting with Cain.

Thanks for reply. I think it would really be much better to let it make by a professional. I'll ask the tuners in my area.
Another possibility would be to expand the ECU and send it to Cain or Williams ?

The SOP is to start by reading the current configuration of the ECU and writing it to a chipfile, saving it somewhere safe so that if the new map makes things worse you can restore the original. I've got about 4 copies of my map stored on various computers and flash drives. Adrian is also quite right - remapping an ECU also depends on the ECU itself not being locked down. Alternatives are to entirely replace the ECU (which is what they did with my conversion), or to add a 'piggy-back' device which can take over some of the functionality. This is usually used in cases there the main ECU does loads of additional functions in the car which need to be kept, or where there is little appetite to do extensive modifications to the wiring loom.

Another ECU question please. My ECU is locked down or cannot be accessed it’s very frustrating as I can’t have it mapped. It’s physically identical to the 1.8 Duratec Mondeo which was its origin I believe. Obviously the map file will be different. I’m so tempted to just buy one for 30 quid on Ebay and give it a go. If it works I can at least have it remapped. Does anybody know what my chances of success might be regarding getting the car to run, or is just it folly?
