Why take an answer to PMs?

I just don't get that?

As far as I can see there's only one reason and it wouldn't be because they wanted to extoll the virtues of the company...

Wouldn't it have been better just to have sent a PM without announcing it to the world for them to make that assumption?

Such practice is all a bit disingenuous I feel.

Its a public forum that cannot be pursued for litigation, so if somebody has a beef with a company, lets hear it. Chinese Whispers are worse than an opinion based on experience as there is no individual judgement call.

As I understood it, RPI engineering took on the Buick/Rover V8 from J-LR and were naive in doing so. I've never had any dealings with them, so I cannot comment either way. But I'm always interested.

I have a 1996 +8 4.6 which was modified by RPI after buying many satisfactory upgrade parts for my old range rovers , it dynoed at 280 hp and has since been further modded to approx 300hp but not dynoed . It has made several trips on the continent before moving to Canada where it toured extensivly it now lives at my home in arizona and regularly puts in 500 mile days where every Hp is used .
Now with about 30,000miles on the engine it has developed a small oil leak from the rear of the oil pan , something the engines were known for, other than that it hasnt missed a beat , runs strong , quiet and smooth .
Good job RPI

I have purchased a couple of parts from RPI for My +8 Bitsa 3.5. Lightened flywheel, motor mounts and stole a exhaust header design. Chris Crane was very forthcoming with advice and suggestions. His website is informative and useful. I would use there services more if I lived in the UK.

As a US'er I have had very good service from Mark at D&D Fabrication in Michigan. Highly recommend D&D. However they have no truck with EFI. Carbs only. Not sure why no EFI.
I asked and the answer is Why? Carbs do just fine.

Another good company is Automotive Components Remanufactured in Deeside Nr Chester.
They build most of engines for the British offroad championship - I ran a rover v8 4.8 with omex for 5 years with no problem and won the championship twice with a 4.2 jag supercharged on Pectel.
They also do pre-mapped ecu with throttle bodies for ford engines.

I used RPI a few years ago to buy upgrades for my Plus 8. These included new distributor, coil and plug leads. The guy I spoke to completely bamboozled me with verbosity. The upgrades worked ok for a few months but when I had a problem with the diode in the Distributor which I felt was their responsibility, they declined to offer any solution or assistance and I ended up going to a Morgan Racer (Chas Windridge) who did a great job.
