Bud, That's exactly the same dash as my car so good to hear that the Garmin Suction Mount fits to the right of the glove box lid - I did measure it on mine but without the suction pad in hand it was difficult to tell if it would fit there and clear the glove box lid, so I though that if worst came to worst I could try and mount it on the lid. I did consider trying to mount it on the dash to the right of clocks and the steering wheel but it all seemed a bit tight in terms of space once the extended arm and GPS were mounted.
The responses on TM have been very encouraging so I think I will just go ahead and buy the mount and see where it works best.
Thanks for your advice and especially for the photo.
RogerQ: Your solution sounds like a good alternative and one I had not even considered. The screen being in shade is clearly a huge bonus.
Do you have a photo of the installation?
If I can find the self adhesive plate you refer to I could try the same as you but using the Garmin Suction Mount on it - what size is the self adhesive plate please? Would it be large enough to accept a suction mount 3" in diameter?
My Garmin GPS62 is a waterproof handheld unit that runs off 2 x AA batteries so power, at present, is not required. The batteries last about 8 hours so I carry some spares or for trips plan on two batteries a day.
I know that a powered Tom Tom or similar would probably give me more functionality but I have used the Garmin unit for about 5 years now, both on foot and on the motorcycle and it has proved to be really useful (especially with failing eyesight: pulling out a map, checking it quickly and then putting it away and heading off is a thing of the past for me these days - it's much more like: lift helmet front, pull out map, find reading glasses and put them on, check map, take off glasses and put them away, do up pocket, put away map, pull down helmet and set off, then within two minutes I am thinking was that the B4931 or the B4391....).
I'm not sure of the functionality of the car based GPS systems these days, but one of the great advantages of the old GPS62 is that I can pre-programme in the exact routes I want to take from my PC (using Basecamp software). That way I do the routes I want and not the routes the GPS wants me to. Maybe things have moved on since I bought my GPS but apart from the relatively small screen it has been absolutely bombproof. And I already have it, so if I can I would like to use it in the Morgan.
Below is the link to the Sat Nav mounting disc. The diameter is 3" so should be OK with your Garmin. Having now checked the cost they are £2, unless you buy it with a Sat Nav then they are half price.
The sticky tape on the back has so far stuck very well to the plastic panel. Even when I had to re-locate the plate backwards slightly (to avoid inadvertant screen touches), it took some prising off, but has subsequently stuck back on with the same enthusiasm!
I don't have a photo of it at the moment and the car is with Williams at the moment have a few minor snags resolved. When I get it back I'll then post one.
The location is perfect in my opinion and although it's in a shaded area the satellite signal is still strong.

Many thanks. I'll follow that up. I like the idea of putting it below the dash as it keeps it out of the way - which may seem contradictory because I also need to view it!
I will experiment by putting the GPS in the rough area to determine how well I can read the screen and then take it from there.
I use the car mount suction cup on the windscreen, with a garmin 660. Without any problems. The unit has a sunscreen/ cover. normally used on my motorcycle no problems
I ordered the suction cup mount from RAM UK today; when it arrives I will experiment with the installation to see where it fits and works best - especially in terms of Satellite Signal and my eyesight - initial options will be: Windscreen, Dash or Under the Dash above the tunnel.
