I'm going to look at a 95 plus 8, from the photos it seems to have a single exhaust at the back.
Do some have single and some have twin exhausts? Do they sound different?
and how easy/difficult is it to convert from single to twin?

I have a '96 Plus 8 with the single outlet exhaust (the two sides of the manifold join into one exhaust after the cats.).
Brands Hatch Morgans told me that I could convert to a stainless steel twin outlet system, Keith said "it would sound great and give you another 10 horsepower".
The downside?.....about £2000!

My 1997 plus 8 has twin side exhausts. Melvyn says its that way so you can hear them better. Looks odd at the back though. I like the look of two pipes at the back. The race cars seem to go with side pipes though (seen at RPM in Perth earlier this year).

Hi, my +8 came with a single rear exhaust, it had a nice tone however the manifolds are unbalanced and adding the pipe under the engine to the left side makes it worse. Twin exhaust manifolds with a pipe each side is quite an improvement. I purchased a complete librands system and fitted myself, not a hard job just laborious., half day to get old off and 1 day to get new on. The hard bit is doing up the flanges that go through the existing bulkhead holes and some of the manifold set screws. You need to buy a long hex with a round end and be very patient doing 6 bolts up, 1/8 turn at a time. If you go for this then I would recommend mufflers on the rear, unless you want a fry noisy car then have plane pipes ate the rear. You keep the cats, it is not worth loosing these you will only gain about 2bhp, and will have to put them back for MOT's. Librands exhaust Mulfab

For an immediate handling improvement fit a panhard rod on the rear axle, and brake reaction bars, easy to fit and Mulfab can supply these.

Just done exactly this with my Plus 8, Wykehams did it for me and gave me a great deal on a twin-system they had lying around. I also plumped for full stainless sport manifolds and the power and torque freed up have transformed the car as well as the noise! It needed it, still sounded like the Discovery it had come from

I will probably go decat as well for a bit more noise, and a tiny bit of oomph and weight saving; refitting them for the MOT will only be a few quid at my local place. They're good lads
