Following my Step-mother`s move into a home I have "inherited" a box of probably 100 LPs - one or two 70s "pop" eg Simon & Garfunkle etc.which A local shop might have - but nobody seems to want classical ones.I have my own collection & do not want to add Dad`s duplicates to it.Most are in pritine condition. Any ideas out there of anyone who might like them? Don`t want money - just a space in the waqrdrobe & several Brownie points from SWMBO.

Phil

Send me a PM of the titles if you have a list. I will certainly take some of them.

Hi Phil

After having no record deck at home for many years I finally had a sort out of the cabinet and even though it broke my heart I gave away a similar number of albums to our local charity shop. They were delighted and had a window feature of them. One of my neighbours told me he could not believe it, he said they even had a numbered edition of the Who's 'Tommy' and a 'Live at Leeds' with all the internal leaflets and signed photos.....they were up for £50 each........I did not have the heart to tell him it was me who donated them and I have no regrets, if it helps someone and all that.

If the charity shops aren't interested then the chances are they're worthless as these people know what they're doing nowadays.

You could try searching here for any you think might be rare:

We bought my son-in-law a record player for Christmas, vinyl is the 'new' sound. I am really glad I kept all my LPs, , he is quite envious! Any others like Simon and Garfunkel can quite easily find a new home in Nottingham!

Yep , still the business today Peter, especially with a couple of good amps, and matched speakers.

I still have a very large vinyl collection with the classic Linn LP12 Ittok Asak and Naim combo which beats the pants off CD's.
Vynyl always seems to have more soul than CD's having said that I've probably got more CD's than vinyl only because they became so difficult to obtain for quite a few years.

Our local Oxfam only takes books, cds and vinyl, I often go there to check their latest stock of singles. I'm sure there must be others around the country that specialise in this way.
