Kim / Thierry etc

Please note that Williams installed hardened king pins when I purchased at 24,000 miles. 60,000 miles later, pins are still fine!

Well worth the extra when you next have to change

Oh and Kay : 2008 4/4 Sport Ford 'box. Fine now but most people say the Mazda is better. Also chipped for better performance and really works !

Cheers

Gambalungas post 3.2.16 seems to give all the info u need .

The Gdi is a great engine the latest from Ford.

But many love the Duratech too.

Having had a Sigma I would say they are an excellent engine.

But you have to use the gears more and Rev more.

Hope this helps!

The gearbox in the plus 4, was changed to the Mazda one from mid to late 2011 onwards.

Be interested to know if and how you can tell one from the other by a look underneath from the side without having to jack up the car?

The Ford box has its gear-lever remote extension supported by a metal "U" bracket which is bolted down to to floor aft of the gearbox. The Mazda box does not use this set up. So you might be able to see the bolts from underneath.

Two months ago tokkie(talk morgan member) has run with my 4/4 sport .After the run he tought i had the 2 litre .With the sport exhaust the car is very quick. It is still possible to improve the induction of fresh air and williams morgan can do
a remaping of the ecu. Without the bumbers and the sparwheel the 4/4 sport is very light and has almost the same performance than
a +4.

If you get chance to wiggle the lever, you'll probably tell if it's Mazda. It's THAT good..!!

The other way of improving acceleration is to change the back axle diff ratios , may be a cheaper option ?

Thanks for all the hints folks!
And here is the end of the selection process…

I went for a Morgan Plus 4 from 2011 – about 16.500 km on it. Bentley Midnight Emerald Green Metallic Paint, Leather is Yarwood Cinnamon, Dayton Wire Wheels, Silver Mesh Grill, Morganpark Walnut Dash, Union Jack Badges, Audio/CD Equipment, Morganpark Wood Steering Wheel, etc.

The car looks great. Photos will follow, need to finish all the paperwork and pick up the car on the weekend. Can’t wait to start the first tour with my first Morgan.
