Hmm, that's interesting, it would seem that the standard Morgan connection isn't through a block at all, but with separate bullets. So my wiring has obviously been mucked about with at some point - not exactly surprising, my car had a very hard life in the years before I got it.

When I removed mine I drilled through each bolt from the side. Worked well.

If its the same one as I changed on my 1972 4/4 you should be able to remove the actual switch assembly by undoing a small screw and sliding it out with no need to remove the lock mechanism.

The switch assembly then slides out and is connected to the loom by ordinary bullet connectors.

The source for the switch is from a Vauxhall Chevette or Mk 1 Cavalier.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Take a small steel cold chisel. Hold it quite perpendiculary to the screw axle and apply it tangential to the border of the screw head with a small angle in order to be able to unscrew when gently tapping with a small hammer. The chisel penetrates a little on the border of the screw head and turns it. Don't shear the screw head.

I don't know if it is very clear, but I succeeded to do it by this way.

Well,
I cannot even get to the sheer bolts as they are on top of the steering column, this would involve dash board removal !
It's a straight hacksaw job through the lock mechanism plus a careful cold chisel job.
It all has to come off as the electrics insert 'exploded ' into small pieces. All the key mechanism fell to pieces so it's a full replacement job.
The jobs cancelled this weekend as the family have all decended for my 60th birthday!

Also uncle Melvin has no stock of switches and wants £98 for one ( plus vat and postage) I think a mgb one from mgbhive at £23.90 is going to be fitted !

You can get landrover ones off eBay that are the same and fit. You're best course of action is to drill from the drivers view through the bolts. It's what I did and it was very easy.

The shear bolts are too large a diametre (at least for my) Dremel bits. There's plenty of room for a full sized drill.
