Just read DaveW's post re: The front frame....
And he gave a measurement as 1 finger width or 2. This brought back memories of my apprentice days, a common measurement was, it's got to be within a cock hairs width.
What are other none standard measures.
Eg. The size of a brick Sh.. house
The length of a barge pole
It's a big bastard

"Couple of Miles", its standard farmers measurement for anywhere between 5 and 20miles. Usually used when giving directions to tourists or non locals

It needs to be "within a whisker" or, we were a "hairs breath" away. The first is obvious but I've no idea of the origins of the latter? but I bet someone on here does  I was driving a rented van last year and the satnav had me in stitches, it gave instructions like "keep driving for some distance", "turn left soon" and "traffic congestion en route" - all very helpful!

For the cook who has everything, these measuring spoons provide an exact measurement for “smidgen”, “pinch”, and “dash”. Smidgen 1/32 tsp.; Pinch 1/16 tsp.; and Dash 1/8 tsp.
