I must say I was most impressed with the performance and easy handling, light steering, character of the 75th Anniversary 4/4 that I test drove on behalf of Raphael before he bought it. It is, in effect, the narrow bodied Plus 4 that everyone keeps talking about. If one does not want to increase the power it is the perfect Morgan I think. If you want more power wider tyres are probably a good idea but you loose some of the "chuckability" and the light steering.
To my mind a narrow bodied Plus 4 should be considered by anyone seriously thinking of a choice between a 4/4 and a Plus 4.

Good Evening everybody. Don't post often but browse forums regularly. Could I add a few thoughts of my own?
I purchased a 2005 +4 six years ago, when I retired. Influenced greatly by Richard Gilbert!!.Now tentatively thinking of changing to either a 3litre Roadster or +8. Have never driven a Roadster but have driven, back to back, my friend's 4litre +8 against my +4. Both of us were amazed at the completely different driving experience, and the ease of accessing the performance of the +4. I am tentatively looking at a a top figure of £40k (given a good price against my +4). I see this sort of figure gives access to late model 3litre Roadsters and Rover engine +8's (Some nice ones advertised in Miscellany). Or, bit of thread drift here, maybe a +4 Supersports!. Tried one at Silverstone and mighty impressed. Or do I just stay with my trusty +4 to which both Mrs M and myself are very attached?

Hi Try before you buy, it might be worth hiring one for the day or the weekend which would give you the opportunity to try the car properly. You would probably be able to negotiate the hire price off any subsequent purchase

The narrow winged Plus 4 provides the nimbleness of the 4/4 with the performance of a Plus 4. It's better than the sum of the parts, and a real Gem. I've not driven one, but that combination of good power and agility is what I've been developing with my 4/4 for the last 15 years. I used to think about 130bhp would be ideal, now I've got something over 160 I think that's about right for the tyres.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. I've only recently joined TM and this is only my second post.
I've really enjoyed reading the various contributions and found it very useful as I ponder which model to buy when I retire next year. I'll certainly try out a Plus 4 and Roadster first, as well as a 4/4 which I wouldn't have considered until reading the positive comments on this model. Build quality does seem to be a bit of an issue, particularly with electrics but one would hope Morgan will fix this problem if they've not already done so. On the different models, I hadn't previously appreciated the difference between the first 3 litre Roadsters and the current 3.7 models, so a good used 3.0 litre looks an enticing prospect although getting a test drive in one may prove to be a bit more difficult until I find one for sale in a dealer.
Anyway thanks again and keep them coming.
P.s. One final point, nobody has mentioned the comparison with a Fronline LE50 MGB. Has anyone seen one in the flesh, or better still driven one?

I looked at a couple of Frontline MGB's at Silverstone a couple of years ago. I wasn't tempted, partly because I had enjoyed MGB's from 1982 to 2008, so was ready for a change. The Frontline car is nicely built but 'expensive' and with unknown residuals if that matters.
