The 3.0 roadster can be exceptionally quick when you get your walking boot jammed between acc and brake pedals.
No times as was to busy trying to retrieve my foot to more normal operation.
Morgans are a simple trade off economy verses torque and acceleration.
Choose which bit you'd prefer.

Plus 8 for noise and bottom end torque. Roadster for top end thrust.Plus 4 for economy/enjoyment balance.
PS - I really miss the sound of a Rover V8. Really.

For a 3.7l 280 bhp roadster on 6th gear, a french forumer measured with GPS 61km/h (38 mph) @ 1000 rpm. Theoretical computing deduces 214 km/h ( 134 mph) @ 3500 rpm.
First test of an AR P4 in 5th gear 39 km/h (25 mph) @ 1000 rpm. The car has a 3.91: rear axle and probably the standard MAZDA gearbox of the PLUS 4. To be confirmed. Theoretical computing deduces 201 km/h ( 134 mph) @ 5150 rpm.
Some figures, speed at 1000 rpm on the last gear:
Roadster: 61 km/h (38 mph) PLUS 4 2005: 40.4 km/h (25 mph) AR P4 : 39 km/h (24 mph) Ferrari Modena: 34 km/h (21 mph) Ford PUMA: 32 km/h (20 mph) cerealsurfer racer: 32 km/h (20 mph) TBC
Probably with all the standard Morgan, maximun speed will be reached on second last gear.
Regards 2005 PLUS 4

I was in discussion with a friend re: relative paper performance figures for Morgans. We were able to find a number of articles which gave for ex. max speeds in gears for the Rover engined Plus Eights and for 4/4's but had nothing for Roadsters. Any ideas ? It is my belief that performance figures are derived from a graph that most manufacturers use based on predicted acceleration BHP per Ton. Read this somewhere. My + 4 beats the published 0-60 quite easily.

I drove both before buying the Roadster.
It was a v close call!
The GDI is IMO a great engine - really goes well in the Plus4.
The 3.7 is a different beast altogether - and in the end I could not resist the temptation of the power. Mind you it is a very versatile engine. you can cruise along at moderate speed - but massive power is there if you want it!
As said it was a tough choice.
