Graham, the Discovery's were Mpi quite a few went to Italy. I had one, traded it in for a TD5 Defender and then 6 weeks later the new owner of the Discovery rang me to say the engine had "blown up". The garage she bought it off didn't want to know!

That was it John - memory not working! Never owned one. Wasn't that keen on the 200Tdi model I had for nearly a year. Went back to the real thing afterwards... Only once had a problem with my T16 Morgan when it didn;'t want to start. Confused immobiliser. Cured by ignition off, immobiliser on for 30 seconds, then off. Instant start after that.

I haven't had this issue yet, but got a spare ecu on eBay for £20 just in case.. On the subject of the T16 have been googling and came across a past post on induction on here. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/94470/T16_Induction_againAny one have any success or significant benefit in changing the air flow into the engine? I have a feeling that ECU's with immobilisers might be more troublesome than the earlier, simpler ones?
As for Induction Will there seems to be limited options. I replaced the (burnt) fabric induction pipe with an aluminium tube and insulated it from the manifold. It takes it air from the same place as the original tube. There seems to be mixed opinions to whether picking up air in front (over the top) of the radiator makes the intake too long and creates turbulence in the tube, i have no idea either way what is best, but i do think that the large gap between the bonnet and the wing is a source of cold air rarely mentioned. A foam filter (turned inside out) in the original air box might improve airflow without sacrificing heat insulation, but it depends which side your filter is on?

My inlet pipe failed in the underside over the manifold. Somewhere on here is a post about it.
I replaced with heat resistant tubing and tried running it up to the front & lower down but worried about water ingress. Higher up there wasn't the gap above the rad so the hose was squashed. I went back to the Mr Mog solution.
I did though fit a K&N filter & Librands exhaust & manifold. That did make a difference. My second ECU wasn't connected to the immobilizer but it was still starting to go wrong when I sold the car.

hi all, we have a beautiful T16 plus 4 and we know her percularites she is netherless a great car
if your brave as we have been you can upatain for about £20 all in the cables and software to read the ecu mems 1.9 computer....you can read the fault codes...adjust the base idle...adjust the delay back ti idle after releasing throttle...and more importantly tweak the advance to give more power.. the software provides live reading of all sensors and the recording of these so you can see whats going wrong
please meassage me and I'll provide more info
the engine loves cold thick air, it loves a branch manifold rather than the cast iron production manifold and it loves a k&M air filter...the engine revs low due to its long stroke and is very economical...its one of the best engines for the mog plus 4

Just to give closure on the T-16 +4, Owner (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) recently took a Road Test. New front suspension, rears cleaned up (chain oil) and a Mulberry Kit. The improvement in handling and compliance is startling says the Owner. Engine is doing its thing. He also did not cut the rebound spring but could twist the passenger side but not the Drivers side. I concluded it had to be close as one could get. Thanks to all TMers for your help. BTW: Vesconite bushes, not bronze. Not that Vesconite is any better than Bronze. Just does not need greasing as often.
