Chaps - I need to buy a replacement battery for my M3W in the US but I'm having trouble finding one that fits the 7" x 4 3/4" tray...

Any recommendations?

Have a search for Varta 540126033. Its a 12 volt 40Ah battery, so 33% greater capacity than original. Same footprint but taller. You will need terminal adaptors from the JAP posts, but these should be easily available from your battery dealer.

You may want to try these sites for US batteries.

Summit Racing Braille 475CCA

Jegs Racing Braille 475CCA

These are both $199.99.

Both of these companies have great service and are very competitive for pricing. They offer free shipping and usually no state taxes if you're out of state. Very quick delivery.

I've used Braille from Jegs and have had great luck with them.

Both have many other brands of AGM type batteries. I see Jegs is getting into the Lithium batteries, but are around $2k each. A bit pricy for my blood.

Good luck with your battery search.

Take a look at the Duracel ULTRA--DuraGM30LA-US 30ca/400ca

Usually available from Battery Plus stores and virtual drop in for UK factory battery with more ca.

About $144.00 when I bought it. No problem after two years in AZ heat, but I do keep it on a battery tender.

Good luck. TomS

I've keep my 2013 on a battery tender always, should I start sourcing a new battery before the season starts ? I usually get 3-5 years from a motorcycle battery ...

thumbs cheers

Cannot say for sure on the 3-W. My factory battery lasted about 18 months after arriving in AZ(2012 model).

The battery in my 1958 +4 is now into its 7th year on a battery tender. My daily drivers(Toyotas) never last more than 24-30 months in the heat out here.

Just fitted an Exide 40ah, same footprint but a little taller.

Need to make up some post adaptors now.

Is nothing straight forward nowadays!

The Magneti Marelli 53034 dropped straight in and the screw terminals were the same as the original.

It's only 2kg rather than 8 so a whole 6kg lighter and 540 CCA.

Expensive but worth it? Time will tell.
