I have the manual somewhere if you want it pm your email.
The cup that hold the spring for the gear selector has a tab that can also fail. Mine did that. Again an easy fix That cup is a poor design...mine's been welded a couple of times as the tab is weak.Nobody has any replacements either! Possibly an opportunity for an engineer to make some? Hi so span. What mileage was your car at when the tab broke? Any idea what the cause was. Just wondering what to be on the lookout for. Cheers

Phill ,I don't think you have a Lt77 gearbox. Its the later box.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Ray, I have the R380 box but the selector mechanism is the same as on the LT77. The part number is ukc3159 and nobody seems to have any left Gomog covers the issues quite well. If anyone comes across any then grab them! I will buy one ....... Mine has gone again and the tab gone so I have made a small bracket to hold the cup in place...working well so far!

The Rimmer Brothers part number for the bushing is as follows
UKC854POLY BUSH 5SP.REMOTE 4.08 48.96
You will need 8 of them.

MGDave....on my car the cup had been welded when I bought it at 29k. The weld failed soon after, or rather the tab split again next to the edge of the weld. I have done 15k+ miles with my ownd tab that presses down on the cup edges. I have put some oil drops under the cup to help it too, engine oil. I don't like the fact it was dry and causing friction to move the cup against the lever. Stressing the tab.

Mine failed at around 25k. I made a tab from scrap metal and pop riveted it into place. I then got replacement.

I would have thought there was a market for the cups as the selectors were used on a large number of vehicles and the obvioys weakness generating sales of spares.
If I could find a new replacement then a mod to weld on fillets to beef up the tab would be a must.
Having tried people like Rimmers, breakers etc no joy repairs seem the only option.
