Ian, exbiker, I have had an e-mail exchange with a nice chap at Ford Component sales who has advised that there is a cover for the GDI engine, indeed he even sent a picture which I have checked against my engine and it seems to be what we are looking for. The part number seems to be:- CM5E plus the fitting kit however he was concerned about the bonnet clearance. The next stage seems to be to actually measure the cover, I will advise if I have any joy.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

John07, thanks for your post about this. I have taken your lead and got a used engine cover from eebay. £15 post free. Using your lines I have cut it down to size and trimmed some plastic off around the water pipes. I just need to secure it as I don't have any fitting, will probably use cable ties.

John I've just seen this: it looks like a good fit and I don't think you'll need my ali covers.Actually the M16 engine has a neat recessed cover over the leads and plug as standard. Can"t remember now why I thought the shiny bits were a good idea but they work.Well done.

Hi Mark, The barn keeps the rain out ! It is an aluminium shield attached to the middle of the bonnet on both sides which keeps the engine dry even in a downpour. I suspect that it serves to keep more engine heat in but that may be countered on the move by the long air dam underneath which will draw the heat out. On our very hot days I do open the bonnet for a while when I get home - sorry, thread drift.

.....update, went out for a drive this morning and decided to drop into Williams to ask them to have a look at my spark plugs. Tony organised for one of the engineers to inspect them. He whipped them out one at a time, and refitted them with a smear of copper slip around the thread. He restarted the car to make sure everything was OK. Each one of the spark plugs was nice and clean with no evidence of rust on them. So I for one can relax now.
Once again thanks to Williams for great customer service.
I did panic though when Mintymog came out of the Morgan showroom followed by one of the spaniels. Ok, I did buy the updated side window seals.
