Hello folks, after nearby one year of only visiting this world of the Moggis and their owners, I need my first posting. First of all I have to say sorry for my german english, but I try my best A few weeks ago I got a very cheap pair of original round door mirrors and tried yesterday to change the normal square mirrors against the new ones. Now my small problem. The mirrors seems to have an, let me say, slip out protection. It's not possible to remove them by only open the fixing screw. There is grey plastic part inside the housing that stops the remove and I found no way to take the old mirror out. If I look to the new round version I see that the mirror has not a massive bar, it has a cutout near the lower end of the bar and this stops the removing. Now I hope for some help for a stupid German Thanks Oliver

Hi Oliver
First of all welcome to TM and as you say 'The World of Moggis'!
Your English is better than my German, actually it's probably better than my English
My old mirrors came out quite easily so I don't quite know what the issue is or how to sort it
But many on here will know and give you some advice

Oliver. Welcome to TalkMorgan. The mirrors can be tight, and tricky to remove. I suggest that you first remove the base from the door. Then you can give it a good hard pull. It should come out!
Google translate: Oliver .

Hi Stewart,
thanks for the warm welcome and you seem to be right.
Hi Dave,
seems to be a harder work as I thought, but if it's the only possible way, I have to do it like that. But does anybody now the way this damn plastic part works? I've lifted the black seal from top of the base and there was no way to get this part off.
And finally I have to say that google could make life much easier, but automatic translation is worth in technical questions ;-) It only works with small talk :-)))

Hi, I did mine a couple of months ago, I gave them a good pull and they came out, the black rubber seal can then be removed and swapped over, I refitted the round mirrors without the grey plastic clip, hope you understand, Ian

Maybe with time there is some alloy corrosion at work on the inside, acting like glue?

Hi Oliver, Just a thought, make sure you completely remove the locking screw from the base stem. It may be that although the screw is loose it is still projecting inside enough to stop the mirror stem from coming out of the base. Good luck and welcome!

Hi Oliver,
welcome to Talkmorgan. Please do me a favor and don't use Google translater it sounds horrible.
Die Sicherungsschraube muss komplett raus und etwas Ballistol in der Aufnahme kann auch nicht schaden. Dann einfach rausziehen- fertig.
Gruß Torsten

I have just replaced my original mirrors with round ones from Pheonix Designs.Totally remove the retaining screw and then lever out the grey seal. I needed to reem or drill the grey bush out to 10mm diameter so that the new mirrors could be fitted. There was a plastic bit on the end of the original mirrors but this was discarded. The grey seal is important for weather protection.
