Meguiars for me. Their quick detailer spray is amazing, I very rarely do a full wash any more.
Anyone found a polish that works on the fuel filler cap though? Mine is not looking very good
Is it aluminium? I have one on my plus8 and I use Autosol then Meguiars fine polish with a wax finish. It doesn't remain shiny for that long...i reckon 3 polishes a year. I haven't tried a clear lacquer yet, that may seal the finish for longer? There are also surface treatment compounds to give supposed longer protection, many described as "nano compounds" etc. I haven't tried any yet... The Meguiars fine polush does give a good finish. If your filler cap is chrome/stainless then it will be a harder metal so longer needed to polish with a chrome/stainless polish. Horses for courses re polish to use.
Also I would add that using a Dremmel with a polishing head and Autosol will help to get a shine on an aluminium filler cap
Certainly easier to get a shine than doing it my hand
Personally I like a hand job.
I rather like polishing the filler cap, Autosol or Silvo and then a final coat of Megs Alloy cleaner with wax. I've even been known to clean the factory's hire car caps!

The filler cap reacts rapidly to being wet. After a week in Scotland, mine came back grey and watermarked. But astonishingly little effort will restore it to shiny.

A dull filler cap is simply offensive... And a hand job is far more controlled than a machine, it really isn't a good idea to get Autosol all over the paint.
Why?
Because then you have to polish the body work again, which risks getting polish on the filler cap..
And then you have to re-polish the filler cap....
A bit like the "never ending story", trapped to all eternity alternately polishing body, cap, body, cap.....

I've found that initial use of a Dremmel size tool with small polishing head and Autosol is far more effective in bringing up polished aluminium, achieving in minutes what could take hours by hand, on large surface areas at least.
Finish by hand to even shine then use white spirit soaked cloth to remove residue before final clean soft cloth polish.
