In Luton (the axis of Jihad) town centre is a square called St George's Square. It's still called that. Every year we have Christmas lights in the town - still called Christmas lights. We also have Eid celerations. And Diwali for the Hindu population. And Easter and Lent. There is room and nobody is offended. I can't speak for the authorities at Munich Airport but if anybody complained about the term "Christmas", on whatever grounds, I think that perhaps they should have been sent a polite letter. By the way, Muslims do tend to understand that there are other religions, with whom they often share a common ancestory or theme (even though they may disagree on some details)

I do remember a quote from,I think, an Australian politician it went something like this

" you are welcome in our country, but do remember it is our country - if you do not wish to follow our customs and laws, we have one particular freedom and that is you can leave"

Consequently I think ALL immigrants irrespective of origin should have a period to integrate with the customs and practices of the country they wish to live in - if at the end of that period they cannot demonstrate that they have learned the language properly and integrated, then they should have to leave.

If one goes to, say, Saudi Arabia for instance, you have to conform to their way of life, why should we be any different!

Put me on your list to . Upset a few because I refused to let them preach ( DICTATE ) to me and told them "I don't believe in fairy tales. A late uncle said " I would burn in hell ". I told him its not the 10th century.

At last we have something in common. I'm an atheist and I believe in freedom too.

However I don't understand the point you're making.

Muslims have as much freedom as any other religion, particularly in the UK and Europe.

In fact I would go further and say that Islam is afforded more respect than any other religion in Europe as we have become afraid of being critical and giving offence.

Islam in the UK and Europe demands, and gets, exemption from criticism that isn't afforded to other religions

Worldwide it is Christians that are the subject of the most religious persecution.

Unsurprisingly this takes place mainly in Muslim countries and is rather more than a bit of name calling.

I suspect that part of the issue is that the Koran covers every part of life and has never been re-written (unlike the bible). It instructs followers what to eat, wear, how to wash and many other things. To those who follow it literally, it is intolerant of non-muslims - there are over 100 verses calling for war with non-believers and instructions about the agonies they should suffer.

Is it an issue to have devout followers in our midst? I am not convinced that liberal values and religious fanaticism mix easily.

Was that an Aboriginal politician then? Not being politically correct - just factually correct.

I'll tell you one thing that we can all do. Talk to Muslims. Just about normal things - a simple 'good morning' will do for a start. Living in a town the press often consider an axis of jihad I come into contact with Muslims on a daily basis and from chats I have they do feel very much under threat and that white people fear, ignore and avoid them.

I couldn't agree more. I recently spent 10 days in Morocco touring round on my own. People there were so wonderful and friendly. I learnt so many things about their lives, religion, and attitudes that I had no idea about.

It may be false to say that terrorism of the kind perpetrated by Daesh has nothing to do with Islam.

But it is illogical and irrational to therefore imply, as so many are doing, that Islam breeds terrorism. The number of Fundamentalist terrorists as a proportion of the entire Muslim population is no greater than the proportion of Far-right terrorists in the White Western population.

In fact, since 9/11 more people in the USA have been killed by Far-right terrorists than by Islamic terrorists.

Far-right terrorism originates in the politics and culture of white christianity. Does this mean that white christianity breeds terrorism? Of course not.

When you look at the whole picture, not only US (where moslems are a minority) the numbers are different.

Oh, absolutely, don't get me wrong. I consider Islam to be (like all religions) to be a primitive superstition that divides people culturally from the rest of society. It is primitive, medieval, anti-liberal, and the way it treats women is appalling.

But the fact remains that despite all this it is absolutely core to the way of life for billions of people, the overwhelming majority of which have absolutely no interest in slaughtering those of us who don't believe, or even of converting us to their way. They just want to get on with their lives, just like us.

I believe in the power of education and learning, it is this that will gradually bring Muslims into the 21st century, and it won't be achieved if we do what the terrorists want and set Muslims against non-Muslims in some kind of holy war.

Oh, absolutely. World-wide, by far the largest group of victims of fundamentalist terrorism are Muslims, they suffer far worse than we do and have been doing for many years.

How can the victims of terrorism be blamed for the actions of the perpetrators?

It's also worth noting that in terms of the numbers of attacks, in Europe by biggest source of attacks since 2006 has come from Separatists and Ethic Nationalists rather than from religious extremists.
