Does anyone know an alternative source of discs, pads and rear shoes for my 2000 3.9 +8 other than morgan dealers? Over 50 pounds for a set of shoes, for example, seems just a tad excessive, wouldn't you think?

I used the outfit below last year for rear wheel cylinders, brake shoes and front pads successfully £69 the lot and they are all Lockheed/Caparo and delivered. I'm sure there are others. Give them a call to confirm which Morgan and year before ordering if you use them.

+1 all standard stuff except the discs which I think are Morgan specific.
Linings are Ford Transit as far as I know.
I have Mulfab drilled discs on mine, standard pads and calipers and the brakes are really excellent.

I have used "Porterfield" Kevlar pads for road use. Expensive but it is like power brakes. Also on the +8 Bitsa I use 300mm rotors and 4 pot calipers. These are U.S. companies. Peter Mulberry has the same quality stuff for UK customers. I would buy from Peter if the freight was not so expensive. Also Peter does the machining necessary to make this stuff work on Morgans. I have a friend that did it for Me. Not all that simple. One needs to know what they are doing. PM does.

Very over priced and sadly not unusual, the claim that low volume sales pushes up prices does not stand up for parts that are and were used on other vehicles, and some are. I would advise contacting Peter Mulberry of Mulfab (Just Google Mulberry Fabrications) and he can quote you the numbers and prices off the top of his head.

The Lockheed/Delphi part No. LP0047 front pads.
The Lockheed/Delphi part No. LS1311 brake shoes.
The Caparo/AP Braking No. CW15953 rear wheel cylinder.

Most of these are standard to the range once they changed from Girling braking systems around 1993. Not the new new models though.

Mine has only covered 30,000mls so can't envisage new discs, I bought it with 20,000mls 18 months ago.

I fitted greenstuff pads to my Plus8 2 years ago. I wanted to try them and am happy with them. I get a better feel for stopping. Checked them this week whilst wheels are off and plenty of pad left after about 14k miles.
Bought direct from their website, putting car make into selection details. They also do a "standard" pad that is cheaper than the greenstuff. Don't be tempted by their other pads as they are designed for race/track use not roads.

My person preference is Mintex 1144, a fast road pad, been round for ages and a very nice bite from cold.

I tried EBC pads once in a non Mog, after 25 miles the friction material decided to separate from the backing plate. Not my idea of fun. Took them back to where I bought them from and bloke on the sales counter said its not the first time its happened! Steered clear of them since.

If the OP is still stuck for brake parts, drop me a PM, I've a trade contact at Brake Engineering in Wrexham whose helped me out with stuff (Pre 92 rear wheel cylinders, TRW branded £8.50 each!)

That's weird the only brake products I had problems with were Mintex. (also none mog)

I have never had issues with EBC stuff but I know of others who have. (de-lamination after pads left rusted to discs funnily enough - as car washing obsessives!)

So you can never tell until you give a product a try as to whether it'll let you down.

EBC on both mine without a problem so far!
