Thanks, and a Congrats on your new MTW. The nearest dealer to me is 1400 KM away in Dubai. I guess I have to travel there and check the car in person and test drive it.

A fully sorted early car will be as reliable or even more so than a new one as all the bugs will have been rectified by now.
Its all down to the individual car, every one is different in some way and all have their own idiosyncrasies.

It's a high strung, hand made toy. It's evolution is a work in progress, the issues from the past have been addressed as they crop up, but who knows what the future holds? If you're 1400km away from a dealer, you'd need someone local to handle repairs.
The larger issue (for me, anyways) is your basic temperament with things that inevitably will go wrong, and then the inevitable wait for parts and repairs. I think most here would agree you have to be of the mind set that stuff happens and it will be..sooner or later...inconvenient...and that equally, it will eventually get sorted out. If that doesn't sit well for you, if you're one of those people who expect absolute reliability and easy service with an absolute minimum of inconvenience, if you expect perfection.. then regardless of how much desire you have or how much fun you;ll experience when it's running right, you should pass.
Lastly, I can't imagine touring the Continent for an extended period of time only in a M3W, for me it's not that kind of experience, I think it's best enjoyed in small, concentrated doses. Otherwise, those things that make it most charming become an annoyance, it's really not like a great car that you cannot get enough of.

Driving an M3W is like sex ( my front tag is "MORGASM"). The anticipation before is incredible. So is the fulfillment. But you really don't want it to go on for hours. And when you're finished, you don't need it to happen again and again. Tomorrow ? Yep!

But Ken, you are a single man. How do you have all this great knowledge?

Perhaps that explains the 'squeaky bed & banging headboard' soundtrack when you drive it.
