Hello All

The rear fog light remains permanently on. It seems the solution is to replace the entire PCB.

Has anyone experienced similar and/or identified a work around?

I have now had 4 PCBs fail mainly to do with the heater/aircon fan circuit. Currently I am running with most of the PCB circuitry bypassed. The board will be replaced entirely by wired circuits when my dash is replaced by a custom dashboard.

This happened to me shortly after I got my Roadster. The PCB was replaced under warrantee (fortunately). A short-term fix was just to remove the bulb. To avoid the cost of a new PCB you could jury-rig an independent power supply with a switch under the dash. You don't have to use the rear fog light very much, after all.

You must be heartily fed up with shelling out for circuit boards.
I have no air con fitted, but note that we have similar year models. I wonder if that is of any significance relating to this issue in general?

This is a solution that is being considered, but I would prefer to have the car running as it should. Thanks for the thought.

Chop it in for a new one - nothing worse than an unreliable car.

My 2002 Plus8 had similar rear fog issues. Traced to the PCB/eprom unit behind the dash.
I opened the casing up, pushed the eprom down to make sure it was in properly. The board was rattling round in the casing as the glue failed. I restuck it and the fault went away.
In the meantime I was trying to source a possible replacement...factory had a stock of units for pre 1998 cars but none for post 1997, they were " on order".
After ordering via Melvyn in January I cancelled in September as I had fixed mine and none had come in via Morgan to Melvyn! My MOT was due so I came close to rigging a bypass circuit. I spoke to Mike Baldwin at one point re using the ones they had in stock but he said they wouldn't suit. My alternative was to buy one from a supplier like carbuildersolutions or similar as they sell a lot to kit builders. Only issue then would be matching up the wiring...and we all know the Morgan issues with that!

Having just renewed the rescue insurance I'll tough it out for another year. I understand that they are very efficient.

Piss up and brewery are starting to occur in my thought process.

Uncle melvyn is usually very good, and brands hatch seem to keep a good stock of spares, try them perhaps?
