Mario,
This is quite a saga -- I certainly didn't expect you would still be fiddling about with cracked exhausts after all this time since the first episode over here in Ireland!!!!!!!

Regards from the PaddyMogs

Cheers!

Hi Mario, I was only thinking about you over the weekend, I was going to see whether you had made any progress. Looks like you beat me to it.

I can only wish you the best of luck with the unwrapping, and I can't wait to see whether they've listened, for want of a better expression.

Georges

If they don't have the additional flexi-joint up by the silencer, as per the latest G56 pipes, then I'd look to get some welded in myself....! I remain convinced that this is the only workable longterm solution for these designs.

Totally agree. Adding extra strength on the pipe to silencer interface simply moves the inevitable break point to the next weakest location banghead

Could have been solved with v2 confused2

MK IV

Pictures taken today. The only visible difference to Mk III is an horizontal weld on the inner side of the silencers (MkIII had this at the bottom).

They'll be fitted into the car tomorrow.

Now for the comparison pictures, in case you don't want to go back a few pages.

Mk III (when new)

Mk III (how they cracked)

I guess we'll have to wait for a couple thousand miles more to know if indeed there's any difference from "previous spec" to "latest spec".

Thanks Mario, looks like they weren't following the rest of our thought processes.

I really wish you luck with them and nothing would give me more pleasure than to be proven wrong, but without that extra flexible joint we all feel is the right solution, I fear it's only a matter of time before you head in search of the Mark V.

I am curious to know what the actual physical differences are, or to put it another way, how apparently moving a weld line through 90 degrees can make a difference, if any, to where the splits are occurring? Is something different beneath the skin as it were.
