I think about installing a Tire Pressure Monitoring System for the M3W, so that I may avoid creeping underneath the rear of the vehicle at the filling station.

Has anybody installed such a system, e.g. the Tiremoni TM 500, or can somebody recommend a suitable system?

Thank you for your input.

You still have to crawl under the car to check it... but these will tell you if you have to add air.

Tire pressure should be checked when the tires are cold before a drive. If you have one of those portable air tanks, you can more easily check and add air if needed.

I have a set of 4 of these caps that I never installed if anyone wants them. Suposidly they will eventually leak and cause a flat and I didn't want the headache of worrying about my solution causing the problem that it was there to solve. If you search for this topic you will find the previous discussion on this subject.

I hate complicated or expensive solutions to what shouldn't be a problem, lol.

Someone tried one of these pressure monitor caps before but it got ripped off with the drive belt for the rear wheel and they got a flat tyre. If you fit one check the clearance before you go for a drive. Easy way is spend the money on a foot pump and pressure gauge and check the pressures at home, when the tyres are cold.

I had an electronic system in mind, similar to the systems I use for about ten years without the slightest problem on my Citroens.

I do not mind kneeling down to check the air on the +4 by myself, but the rear tire on the threewheeler is a different story - there is this young lad at the tire shop around the corner, who normally checks it for me two times a year.

Thank you for warning me about mechanical systems that might introduce an airleak instead of being a means for controling the pressure.

Thank you, milligoon, that looks promising.

Do you use this system?

I looked at the Garmin TPMS but there's not enough clearance between the rear tyre and the drivebelt.

They also need a metal valve stem and mine is rubber so would mean refitting the tyre as well.

Alternatively I've also looked at http://www.puncturesafegu.co.uk/

Has anyone tried this?

Yes I have this type of product in my both my rear and front tyres. I used a product called Puncture Safe its been in for over 8000 miles and allegedly will seal tubes as well if the hole is small. It is easy to use just let the air out, unscrew the valve and inject the the recommended amount in the tyre and re inflate and spin the tyre to coat the inside of the tyre, it does not affect the balance.

Does it work ? Don't know as I haven't had a puncture !
