Australian spec but i've no idea what's what...I meant black exhaust shields. Not allowed asbestos exhaust tape, so i guess its a substitute.
Cheers Mark

Sorry, I hadn't seen the other post with the description and pictures. Didn't mean to be redundant. Good guess on my part though.

The black tube appears to be the air filter housing. You can see the air inlet to the right side with the black hose and then the two "Y" inlet pipes on the front outlet side of the air cleaner housing. So much plumbing has to slow the air down and will probably hinder motor output a bit compared to the direct mount air cleaners currently used elsewhere.

Nice looking M3W none the less.

Hope you get many happy smiles... I mean miles!

I guess that poor monster V-Twin is so choked, it runs hotter from not being able to inhale and therefore needs its poor headers wrapped! Glad I got to live during a time ( before autonomous cars) when I could actually drive unassisted and unguided behind the wheels of some visceral cars.

Yes I always understood it was beneficial to cool (read intercooler) the incoming charge to increase its density, not heat it first as with this arrangement banghead

It's so heartwarming the way he rises above the palsy and legal blindness. He inspires me.

The wrapped headers on the Australian market cars are to protect people from getting burnt...as are the engine covers. Tough lot the Aussies!
