I understand that in some year not too long ago, there was an improvement made, that when the door is closed, the side screen goes into a slot at the end of the windscreen. this presumably is to cut down on draughts and perhaps rattles.

3 questions:
Was it a very effective improvement?
When was the improvement made?
On pre-improvement cars, can it be retrofitted?

I look forward to your knowledge and experience input.

Hi Andrew

Depends.....tried it on my 08 car and the sidescreens would not engage without first bending them in a little every time I closed the door, at the same time got a second pair for a friends 07 car (both +4's) and they worked perfectly every time.

Seems around 2011 but knowing Morgan could be a wide introduction time?

They certainly can to cars with the easy up hood, available as stick on units for a little over £20 from memory, best bet is to try the dealer in Perth for advice. They take a few seconds to fit and then trim to size.

Had them fitted on my 4 str at the factory... Some more adjustments needed but overall sidescreen do not protrude outwards with the wind anymore wink

I fitted them to mine without seeing one already fitted and I did some trimming to make it curve at the bottom. The factory fitted rubbers, I have now seen, are cut above the curve. I also left the original rubber in place, but trimmed a little at the bottom. as it brought the new seal out flush with the windscreen pillar which is nice.
The double adhesive tape will pull the powder coating off the windscreen pillar if you get it wrong and try to move it. Don't ask how I know oops
Enough to say that I now have a lifetime supply of the correct thickness of double adhesive tape.
Where I curved it at the bottom I had to use some Supeglue as over time the adhesive did not hold to the curve.
If I was fitting them again I would not bother to try and fit round the curve.

I had to adjust the sidescreen brackets so that the sidescreen did not press into the greater thickness at the top front. The lefthand side goes in well but the righthand side I had to loosen the screws holding the brackets to the sidescreen and pull it back hard, then re-tighten the screws. It really needs the rear mounting slot elongated by about half a millimetre so that the sidescreen can lay back just a fraction for a better fit.

All in all I am lease with the result.
